This wireless ADSL router connects to the Internet using an integrated high-speed ADSL2/2+ interface. Multiple computers at home or the office can share its high-speed Internet connection. The router provides firewall protection and QoS for secure and smooth online gaming, voice communication and downloading of photos, files, music and video over the Internet. Built-in 802.11n wireless LAN provides high-speed access for wireless users, while 4 Ethernet ports provide connection to computers through the Ethernet cables.
With the DSL-2740R, you can get a ADSL connection with up to 24Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream. Watch TV, listen to live music and broadcast over the Internet, play games and experience clear Internet phone calls. Now, smooth streaming multimedia and VoIP voice are possible at home and in the office through a simple connection to this router.
The DSL-2740R wireless ADSL router is an affordable high performance ADSL router fit for homes and small offices. With integrated ADSL2/2+ supporting up to 24Mbps download speed, 802.11n wireless LAN, firewall protection, Quality of Service (QoS) and 4-port switch, this router provides all the essentials that a home or small office needs to establish a secure and high-speed remote link to the outside world.
Designed as a very affordable high performance ADSL router for home and small- or home-office users, the DSL-2740R provides not only low-cost, high-speed Internet connection, but also the security and Quality of Service (QoS) required by people in today’s high risk and versatile Internet environments.
The DSL-2740R provides an integrated 802.11n WLAN interface supporting high wireless speeds and interoperability with 802.11b/g wireless devices on the 2.4GHz frequency band. It also provides four 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch ports for ready workstations connection. These built-in functions save you the cost and trouble of installing a separate wireless access point and an Ethernet switch.
Security features prevent unauthorised access to the home and office network from Internet intruders. The router provides firewall security using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DoS) attack protection. SPI inspects the contents of all incoming packet headers before deciding what packets are allowed to pass through. Router access control is provided with packet filtering based on port and source/destination MAC/IP addresses. For Quality of Service (QoS), the router supports multiple priority queues to enable a group of home or office users to experience the benefit of smooth network connection of inbound and outbound data without concern of traffic congestion. This QoS support allows users to enjoy high ADSL transmission for applications such as VoIP, streaming multimedia and online games over the Internet.

Rock solid performer,
By iDavid (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: D-Link Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-Port Modem Router (Electronics)
This device won't win any awards for elegance, but its meaty, no-nonsense appearance - with three bristling antennae - suggests a robust workhorse.
Straight out of the box, you can see that the DSL-2740R has been properly thought through. It even comes with a hard copy user manual. Just plug it in, use the setup disk or ping its IP address, and config is clear and intuitive, the user management screens likewise. Range and speed are better than previous N type routers I've owned from Netgear and Cisco. And it just sits there and works 24/7. A very impressive beast. Recommended.

At last! .... A router which just simply works!,

This review is from: D-Link Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-Port Modem Router (Electronics)
The last few years of my life have been littered with Modem/Routers, all of which worked - after a fashion, none of which were totally reliable or just got on with the job for which they were intended. I feel, however, that my pilgrimage to find a modem/router which 'does exactly what it says on the tin' is at long last over! This is it. A solid little box which sits on top of my bookcase and gets on with the job of being a router. No dropped connections, no resetting every hour or so, no overheating, no bells, whistles or whirling lights (Netgear take note!) - It simply does what it is supposed to do and does it quickly and efficiently. The answer to my prayers!

Possible the best router ive owned for a BT ADSL Connection,

This review is from: D-Link Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-Port Modem Router (Electronics)
Scenario : Need a Simple Wireless Router with a strong range and throughput for Gaming and Wireless Connections to more than 2 devices in a Detached House.
Enter the D-Link Wireless N DSL-2740R Modem Router. Straight from the Box, it was well packaged as described in other reviews. In terms of Setup, the ease of the Setup CD made it a breeze to install. I was much more comfortable setting this up than with the older generation Belkin Wireless N Router I had. 1. Pop the CD in 2. Plug the Power to the Router in and confirm the connection 3. Select the Provider and you are basically done......its literally that simple (ok a few connection diagrams it shows to confirm you are connected right for people who are new to setting up a wireless network.) Set-Up : 5/5 Customization is simple. It has loads of options for the user to select. Compared to the normal BT Homehub, this was a nice upgrade for Network Gaming. The port forwarding can easily be navigated to from its clean set up design as well as other options such as Wireless Protection options (WEP and WPA) .A Very well and clean designed set up interface. Customizing 5/5 Range is also a major strength. The scenario of my current location for this router is a fairly large detached family house of which my 3 brothers are also sharing the connection. The range is fine given the receivers had Wireless N Adapters and signal as well. Even through a few walls and floors of the house, all of us were very happy with the connection throughput this sustained. This connection also remained Rock Solid and hasn't dropped yet. Range 5/5 Overall, given I have described some of the review areas in some detail, if you are looking for a strong candidate Wireless N router to run your network for an ADSL connection this is a perfect option. If you are wanting to go Wireless and have the family set up wirelessly but are afraid and dont know what to do, this router for BT Connection will do you justice as it is literally idiot-proof to set up. You will be happy with the purchase and results. Recommended Set-up Process : Insert CD > Power on Router > Connect Router > Select ISP > Enter Set-up Details from ISP > Confirm Successfuly Connection > Add a Wireless Protection Key (WPA or WEP) to make sure your network is Secure from unauthorised users. * I recommend pairing this purchase to D-Link's Wireless N Adapter range as this is what I used on my computers and it has worked lovely. I hope you have enjoyed this review and good luck on a healthy network :).
