Share and stream files with ease

Connect a USB storage device to your Cloud Gigabit Router N600 to create a shared storage space, making it easy to share files between computers and devices connected to your network. Plug in a USB hard drive to stream your library of videos and music to your laptop. An easy to use web interface lets you access, upload, and play files stored on your USB drive, and the SharePort Mobile app for iOS and Android devices allows you to back up photos and videos stored on your device. You can even customise your shared storage space by creating separate accounts to control access to the USB drive, so you can share your music with everyone but keep your personal files private. The DIR-826L can also be used as a media server for your home to stream media stored on your USB storage drive to any DLNA compliant player like the Boxee Box by D-Link.

    The benefits of dualband technology

The Cloud Gigabit Router N600 uses dualband technology to support 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz wireless signals at the same time. This allows you to check e-mails and browse the Internet using the 2.4 GHz band while simultaneously streaming movies and other media on the 5 GHz band. The DIR-826L is designed for home users looking for a wireless connection that can handle video streaming throughout the house, while being backward compatible with existing 802.11g and 802.11a products.

    Smart QoS prioritisation

With some routers, all wired and wireless traffic, including Voice over IP (VoIP), video streaming, online gaming, and web browsing are mixed together into a single data stream. By handling data this way, applications such as streaming video may stutter or have an unstable connection. With the D-Link Smart QoS technology, wired and wireless traffic is analysed and separated into multiple data streams. Different applications like voice, video, and data will be automatically detected and the transmission sequence will be automatically prioritised.

    Dlink Cloud
    High-speed wireless networking

Create a high-speed wireless network for your home using this Cloud Router. Connect the device to a broadband modem and wirelessly share your high-speed Internet connection at speeds of up to 600 Mbps in two different bands simultaneously. Enjoy surfing the web, checking email, and chatting with family and friends online simultaneously. The router uses Wireless N Technology, which offers increased speed and range over the 802.11g standard. It features NAT (Network Address Translation), allowing multiple users to connect to the Internet by sharing a single IP address. The Cloud Gigabit Router N600 also includes four Gigabit Ethernet Ports that give you the flexibility to connect wired devices to your network at the highest speeds. It uses Intelligent Antenna technology to transmit multiple streams of data by bouncing multiple wireless signals off walls enabling you to receive wireless signals from the farthest corners of your home.

    IPv6 ready

This router is ready for the future of the Internet with support for the upcoming move from IPv4 to IPv6. It carries the IPv6 Ready Gold Logo, meaning that it not only supports the IPv6 protocol, but is also compatible with IPv6 equipment from other manufacturers. Using a dual-stack architecture, this router can handle routing for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks at the same time, so you can be assured that your router is forward and backward compatible.

    D-Link Green

D-Link’s Cloud Gigabit Router N600 is part of D-Link Green, D-Link’s programme for providing eco-friendly alternatives without compromising performance. The DIR-826L supports Green Ethernet technology, which reduces power consumption by setting Ethernet ports in stand-by mode if no traffic is detected. The WLAN Scheduler function turns off your wireless network when it is not needed, for example at night or during weekends. Also power consumption is further reduced with its Energy Star power supply.

I received this router over a month ago and is connected to a BT modem.

After doing a lot of research on wireless routers I found the technical and user opinion of this router was the best match to my requirements and price range. I use the two wireless networks, and get a good connection on both over the whole of the house, surpassing my BT HH3. Had expected that I would only get access to the 2.5 ghz wireless upstairs, but can gain access to both so no need to swap. As its winter not had a chance to test the connection in the garden.

One of the main reasons for changing my BT HH3 (received with recent upgrade of broadband package) was the awful connection to my Network Server. Despite the many configuration changes I made, I could not stop the intermittent (average twice a week) issue of the server slowing down to a crawl and everything needing a reboot to get access again, or the constant issue of extremely slow data transfers, and crashes if the file was over a certain size. The issues had been much less with the HH2. Plus a lot of comment on the internet suggested it was the HH3, so I borrowed a cheap router for a few weeks which proved it was the HH3 not my server. Since installing this router no problems and the transfer speed is great.

The set up instructions are ok. After putting in some data it will reboot so you may need to reconnect to continue, especially if you have changed the SSID and / or password. Otherwise Installation is fairly straight forward.

I have not used D-Cloud feature yet but will do. For now enjoying the reliable service of my network.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this router. Not only does it perform well, but it does not take up much space on my desk, and looks good.

I chose the D-Link N600 after reading other reviews. I wanted to replace my TP-Link model which was proving problematic and constantly dropping it's wi-fi transmission signal. I have now been using the D-Link N600 for a couple of months and so far it has never dropped it's signal.

I live in a rural area and the only issue I did have was that my non-3G IOS devices had issues with their location services when connected to the D-Link, but that now seems to have sorted itself out.

The app based remote monitoring feature is also very useful and works well.

I would highly recommend this router

The first router I received was faulty, and would not power up.
Fortunately I got a replacement within 48 hours.

Once it switched on, it was fine & has been ever since.

It wasn't QUITE as straightforward to set up as the booklet made out (took multiple attempts to find my internet connection) but once it was up and going the signal is definitely stronger than my old router when I take the laptop to the far end of the house. So in that respect, does what it says on the tin.

The Router is very very good shame the information on connecting up to the system isn't a little easier, saying that it wasn't really D-Links problem but Sky as they don't like anyone use a 3rd party device instead of their low budget and quality routers. I increased my internet speed by 3 just by installing this item attached to a D-Link modem

As the headline states it works reliably, the router it replaced reset once or twice a week which was very annoying. Only three stars because the range of the wifi seems much less than the previous router. Also the high frequency band which is supposedly better for streaming media has a significantly smaller range than the lower frequency band. Basically it does its job but the wifi performance is not as good as expected.
