Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The D-Link DUB-H7 2.0 is a hi-speed USB 2.0 7-port hub that is backward compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1. It provides an out of the box industry standard that allows connection of up to seven USB peripherals or devices to your USB ready PC or Mac. The D-Link DUB-H7 is targeted at PC and Mac users that are expanding the number of USB ports on their system. Designed to provide quick and easy access, the D-Link DUB-H7 provides seven type "A" downstream ports for connecting USB peripherals, devices, or other USB hubs. A single type "B" upstream port connects the DUB-H7 to the host computer or another USB hub, enabling up to 127 devices to be connected by cascading multiple hubs. Configured directly by the operating system, the D-Link DUB-H7 operates seamlessly with both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh Operating Systems. As a standard USB hub, the D-Link DUB-H7 buffers USB data from any attached peripheral in compliance with USB specifications to provide an invisible extension of the USB bus. Supporting both low speed (1.5Mbps and 12Mbps) and hi-speed (480Mbps) devices, each port creates a bridge between the peripheral and host computer. Diagnostic LEDs provide port status for each port and power status.

At Last 3 July 2006
By Scary
At last a hub that works. I've bought five hubs before, some from what appear to be major suppliers of hub's, cables and sundries and I've thrown every one away. This is the first one that has run my web-cam and every other thing I plug into it. It's also the first one to give me the connection speed that the makers claim. Buy one you won't be disappointed.

Does the job 23 July 2007
By Al
I have a stack of USB devices (mainly panels for my flight simulator) and needed a neat solution to to move away from lots of trailing wires to my computer.
I considered the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7 Port Hub as it initially had many favourable reviews. However recently it had got some negative reviews on Amazon. The D-Link had been reviewed in a PC magazine and got high marks.

The dimensions of the D-Link pleasantly surprised me; it's about the size of a chunky mobile phone. It's a powered USB 2.0 compatible hub and the status lights for each port are useful. Good news for me is that it worked straight out of the box with all seven ports used. Definately worth considering as an option. I'll be buying another one.

does the job 31 May 2008

just plug it in and you are away.

notes
* you must separate your USB devices into fast and slow. In my case fast includes external hard drive and webcam. slow includes mouse and keyboard. Only plug fast or slow devices into your hub. if you mix them, your slow devices will slow down your fast ones.
* it requires its own mains socket for power. (well it would - you can't get power for all 7 devices down the single cable that comes from your computer).

Does the job
No complaints yet (had it a couple of months). Works fine. Blue LED isn't too bright.

I might've bought a hub with more ports, but for the price, it's still a decent... Read more

Looks good, but it's a different item to that pictured.
The item I received was the small, black Version B1.

It has two ports marked with a battery symbol. According to the manual these ports will provide 1. Read more

Great Little Hub
Another reviewer has stated that this device only powers 2 of the 7 ports, and indeed this seems to be what it says on the box. Read more

Okay, but needs power
We bought this believing that although it would be powered, it didn't need to be. We have found that things often do not work in it unless you plug them in and back out again. Read more
