This print server is a compact device that attaches to a parallel printer. Designed to work with both PC and Macintosh, this pocket-sized device saves users cost by doing away with the need to equip every workstation with a dedicated printer. Multiple computers can share a single printer. At one end of the DP-301P+ is a 36-pin high-speed Centronics parallel port that plugs directly to the printer without any need for printer cable. On the other end of the DP-301P+ is a 10/100Mbps dual speed LAN port that connects to either an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet network.The DP-301P+ is easily configurable using any Internet web browser or a simple-to-operate GUI under Windows. Telnet support means that the administrator can also configure and maintain the print server from any station on a Unix or TCP/IP networkIn addition, the DP-301P+ supports HP's directional PJL protocol, allowing two-way communication between a management station and PJL-supported printers such as high-end HP laser printers. It looks good, small and could be handy for me.
However I will not recommnded this to anyone because there are no
reset button on the unit. I did some network connection to the
unit and made a small error and now I can't connect to the unit.
There are no reset button so DLink says I must return the unit
to them and they will reset it for me. You will have the same problem if you eg. forgets the password. Another Dlink product has a reset button but not this one.
However I will not recommnded this to anyone because there are no
reset button on the unit. I did some network connection to the

having read a review here warning against making a mistake in set-up - apparently you can't reset it if you accidentally make the thing inaccessible via the web setup utility - i took a fair bit of care setting up. i mean, i even read the manual first. but having done that it was pretty straightforward and i've now set up 2 macs, a vista pc and an xp pc, all printing happily through this simple and effective piece of kit. forget trying any other way to get both macs and pcs printing to the same printer - when it comes to printer sharing, they don't play nicely at all, whatever Apple and Microsoft may say. this print server is the solution. now we have to see how reliable it is over time, but so far, i'm a happy customer.

I found this printer server very easy to configure and setup. It also produces very quick results (better than others I have tried).
I was using a dedicated print server (a small linux workstation) to handle all print jobs on my home LAN (4 PCs) and several other devices (friends' PCs etc...) I switched over to the D-Link to save space (and electric bills) and it works a treat.
I recomend anyone to get this one but always remember to take care over configuring it.
A tip!
If you have forgotten the IP address of the device and have a broadband/adsl router, simply use that to find the list of attached devices and the print server should be listed there.
