The DIR-301 router provides a speedy data transfer rate of up to 54 Mbps and supports online application requiring high speeds such as telephony online games or live video. Its firewall system is entirely configurable by the user and protects your network from intrusions. It also filters content and MAC addresses and blocks URLs. WEP and WPA encrypting guarantee the security of your wireless network.

I bought this to replace a Netgear wireless router which had remained trusty and reliable until recently. Out of the box the D-link looked good and seemed fairly strightforward but turned out to be a dead loss. Installed using the CD wizard while connected to my PC, again easily done, no probs until I removed the ethernet cable connecting my PC to the router and attempted to go wireless, connected to the wireless network, connection strength excellent... No internet. Fine when connected by Ethernet and working well, nothing by Wireless. Slightly perplexed, I called the customer support telephone number and went through a seemingly over complex set of diagnostics even though I had explained to the young lady on the line my problems in clear detail. I had turned off and disabled all firewalls and such like before calling in my own attempt to diagnose the problems and this was the only explanation (after 25 mins of going round in circles and repeating herself) for the problems I was experiencing. The problems were the same on my laptop as they were on my desktop and very frustrating. Went round and round in circles with it, hard resets, soft resets, different settings etc etc. Unnecessarily stressful and for that matter I'd recommend a Netgear any day of the week.

this a lovely little wireless router.
bought it to replace my 4 year old sweex gateway.
the interface is simple but provides a wealth of options if you delve a bit deeper...features such as emailing you log files, port forwarding (virtual servers), firewall, parental control, domain filtering, dynamic dns client and many more are available.
note that this doesn't include an adsl modem so if you haven't got an adsl ethernet modem then steer clear. cable users will be fine.
if you're a linux user like me ignore the cd, plug an ethernet cable into it and browse to 192.168.0.1 you'll be up and running in minutes.

This product is a waste of money. The set-up is relatively straight forward and the admin control panel is very straight forward - I had it set up in a couple of minutes. Read more
