Wall-to-Wall Home Networking with High-Performance Wireless

The D-Link DHP-W307AV HomePlug AV Wireless N Starter Kit turns every power socket into a possible wired or wireless network connection, extending your existing wireless network using the electrical wiring in your home*.

The DHP-W307AV allows you to connect both wired and wireless computers, high definition TVs, networking devices, and gaming consoles using the most pervasive medium in your home - the electrical wiring. Share Internet connections and experience smooth file transfers, streaming multimedia, online gaming and more. The PowerLine AV Wireless N Starter Kit features easy plug-and-play installation and can be connected to any Ethernet-enabled device.

Use Existing Wiring to Create a Home Network

By simply plugging one PowerLine adapter into an existing electrical socket, you can turn every power outlet into a potential network connection, making the DHP-W307AV an ideal solution for sharing a high-speed Internet connection or for connecting computers, HD media players, game consoles and Network Attached Storage to your home network. This kit includes both a PowerLine adapter and a PowerLine wireless adapter which plug into your home's standard electrical outlets to create a PowerLine network and a Wireless N network. PowerLine and Wireless N offer the advantage of high speed transfers without the need to install unsightly network cables.

Ideal for Bandwidth-intensive Applications

The DHP-W307AV is capable of delivering wired data transfer rates of up to 200 Mbps**. Advanced technology built into these adapters makes them more resistant to electrical interference from other household appliances, so users can fully benefit from the maximum transmission speeds. This makes it ideal for bandwidth-intensive applications, guaranteeing smooth HD video streaming, VoIP calls, and lag-free online gaming experiences. In addition, its Quality of Service (QoS) Engine prioritises Internet traffic, ensuring that multimedia applications do not experience glitches while web surfing and downloads are in progress. This kit provides ample network bandwidth, enabling Digital Home consumers to tap into existing electrical wiring for high-quality multimedia streaming.

Convenient Setup and Secure Operation

The DHP-W307AV plugs directly into a power outlet, and does not require any additional cables. Extend your home network by connecting multiple devices in various rooms throughout your home via ethernet cable or Wireless N. With hassle-free plug and play installation, the DHP-W307AV is an ideal solution to create a wall-to-wall home network.

For convenient setup, wired or wireless encryption keys can be quickly configured at the push of a button on the device, to protect the network from unauthorised wire tapping.

Quality of Service

With Quality of Service (QoS) support, the performance of applications which require real-time communication, such as VoIP phone calls and multiplayer online games, will not be compromised even while downloading Internet TV and music.

Compatibility

Based on the industry-leading HomePlug PowerLine Alliance technology, the adapters in the DHP-W307AV kit are compatible with other brands’ devices based on the same HomePlug AV standard. The Wireless N standard is also backwards compatible with Wireless G devices. To protect your investment, these PowerLine adapters are IPv6 ready, to ensure compatibility with future networks.

D-Link Green

This kit is part of D-Link Green, D-Link’s program for providing eco-friendly alternatives without compromising performance: if data transmission or reception does not occur over a certain period of time, the adapters will automatically go into sleep mode to save power. The unique WLAN Scheduler allows you to shut down the wireless when not in use, such as in work hours or at nights.

* Power outlets and electrical wiring must all be part of the same electrical system. Additional PowerLine HomePlug AV Ethernet adapters are required to add new devices to the network. ** Maximum throughput based on theoretical data rate. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic and network overhead may lower actual throughput rate.

This is a very good homeplug. end of story.
Literally took me 10 mins from the package arriving to install and start using the devices. The devices worked perfectly until my internet connection droppped. I Reset the devices to find the transmitting end (Device 2) had put itself into sleep mode. There is currently no way of turning it back on from sleep mode - customer support reassured me their would be a firmware update to relove this. Nothing recieved as of yet.
About a day later it somehow turned itself back on BUT now its not recognising each device. The computer software i recieved with the product is rather usless and only offers to change the encryption key, nothing else.

Ive spoken to 3 people from customer support. The first guy sent me return forms and forwarded me to the warrantly department. the 2nd guy told me i would be getting a replacement via courier as i was within my 30 days and the last guy told me to talk to the nice people at Amazon for a replacement.

Customer support was great and the product is very good for its primary function.
Downside is that i had it for under a month and its broken.

3 Stars due to the product actually being perfect for what i was using it for but also breaking within a month.

Powerlink/wireless 20 Sep 2011
The 2 units work perfectly with wired ethernet. It is impossible to set the wireless function using the built in buttons. To set the wireless function via the built in router function is very difficult. Once done the wireless signal is established but with mine it seems to come and go. I have almost given up on the wireless part and use ethernet wherever possible. This is a shame as the ethernet only option is quite a bit cheaper than the wireless option.

Exellent 21 May 2011
I've had quite a lot of wireless kit over the years and most (if not all) of it has let me down in some way or another. Difficulties in setting up and poor performance are the norm rather than the exception.

I'm really pleased to say that this is not the case here.

I wanted to extend the range of my wifi connection to cover the whole house and this does just that. Plus the free additional adapter (you post a claim form off to D-Link) will let me stick one behind the telly for a wired connection to internet services.

Plug it in, press one button and away you go! It literally took 20 seconds to set up a WPA2 AES secured network.

I have this connected through a DIR-655 router and the extended wireless file transfers run at about 7MB/s (Bytes not bits) at the furthest point I could reach (one floor and 4 rooms away). The existing router's signal doesn't reach this far and only delivers about 10MB/s even when sat on top of it!

Internet speeds are the same as if connected directly to the modem (I have a 20Mb VirginMedia cable connection and it delivers 20Mb)

There is one thing to watch for though - I wanted this primarily to cover a new extension and conservatory and the electric points in both are on a new circuit. The performance when plugged into that circuit drops by about a half but switching it to an existing socket anywhere else in the house works very well indeed.

Overall it's a little bit more than I was hoping to pay but the results and simplicity more than make up for that. Very impressed.
