Product Description

Product Description

D-Link DHP-308AV Powerline AV 500 Mini Adapter

The DHP-308AV The Powerline AV 500 Mini Adapter uses your home’s existing electrical wiring to extend your Internet connection. It turns every power outlet into a high speed network connection. Compliant with the HomePlug AV standard, it provides network access to your computers, game consoles, televisions, and any other Internet-enabled devices throughout your home. Compact design allows the Mini Adapters to fit discretely into your power outlet without blocking adjacent power sockets.

Ideal for bandwidth intensive applications

This DHP-308AV The Powerline AV 500 Mini Adapter is compliant with the HomePlug AV standard and capable of delivering data transfer rates at speeds of up to 500 Mbps, faster than regular Powerline AV products. This rapid transmission speed makes it ideal for bandwidth-intensive applications, guaranteeing smooth HD video streaming, VoIP phone calls, and lag-free online gaming experiences. This device provides ample network bandwidth, enabling you to tap into existing electrical wiring for high-quality multimedia streaming. Additional Quality of Service (QoS) support prioritises multimedia traffic over other types of traffic on your network connection, ensuring faster transmission.

Convenient setup and secure operation

Plugs directly into a power outlet, and does not require any additional cables. Extend your home network by connecting multiple devices in the farthest corners of your home, or attach a switch or wireless access point to the adapter to connect even more devices. The adapter implements 128-bit AES data encryption at the push of a button to protect your network from any intruders. With hassle-free plug and play installation, it’s an ideal solution to create a wall-to-wall home network.

Power-saving

During periods of inactivity, the Mini Adapters will go into sleep mode to save power, reducing power usage by more than 70%, allowing you to save energy automatically without sacrificing on performance.

Like many people I've struggled with WiFi from home routers for years. Dead spots, drop outs and inability to connect have been regular problems. I got a TalkTalk You-View box with some powerline adapters a few months ago and suddenly realised that there is a better way! This adapter has two RJ-45 connections and I have three of them plugged in (two down stairs running the youview box and my TV and a laptop) and two upstairs running a desktop PC and another laptop. They do occasionally lose sync, but nothing like as often as my WiFi would drop out. They are pretty much plug and play as well. Powerline plugs use a single encryption key that is generated on one device and then shared over the cabling to new devices - there is a button on the side to do this synchronisation. These are the latest generation of powerline plugs from D-Link but they will connect to older versions (such as the ones that TalkTalk give out).

Much better than WiFi in my house.

I bought one of these 7th Oct 2013. It worked fine with no issues, until it stopped working 1 year and 20 days later. I opened it up to find that one of the electronic components had burnt out. It was of course outside the 12 month warranty. I am disappointed as I would have expected it to last a good few years at least. Please note I did not buy this through Amazon, and is in no way a slur on Amazon shops, just my experience with this product.
