I found that this adapter was very easy to install and it has worked reliably from the beginning. It is definitely fast, although my system is not fast enough to fully put it through it's paces. I use it on a windows XP machine to connect to my router. Please note that when I removed XP and installed a final RC version of Windows 7 I was surprised to find that the adapter didn't work: Windows 7 didn't include a driver for it, and I was unable to connect to the internet at all! At the time I couldn't find a suitable driver on an internet search, so I ended up reinstalling XP. This is NOT something I would recommend you try unless you want a week of two of misery reinstalling your system. Best to check before you buy it if you're thinking of upgrading to windows 7. I believe it is compatible with Windows Vista 32/64bit, Linux and MacPro, but the DLink website still doesn't give a link for the Windows 7 driver (for the similar model DFE-528TX).
