No technical knowledge required!

mydlink: the easiest way to monitor your home

Connecting a camera to your network and accessing it has traditionally required complex configuration. Thanks to mydlink home monitoring is now made simple.

mydlink makes it easy to access your camera from wherever you are, whenever it’s convenient for you- for free. A step-by-step guide has your camera up and running in a matter of minutes. Then via a simple website you can set up a mydlink account allowing you to view and manage your camera from any Internet connected computer. If you have more than one camera, you can add it to your existing mydlink account and watch all your cameras from a single location.

Accessing your cameras on the go is easy too. Just download the free mydlink app for your iPhone or Android and you can quickly and easily view your camera feed from anywhere with a wireless or 3G connection.

Night vision: monitor your home/office by day and night

The camera comes with built-in infrared LEDs that allow for continuous monitoring even in complete darkness. The 5-metre illumination distance makes it suitable for monitoring what matters to you most; your baby, sleeping in the nursery, or your office 24/7.

A complete monitoring system

This camera includes additional features such as motion detection and email alerts, via the User Interface. This makes the camera a truly comprehensive home monitoring system for those that want to do more.

You can easily set up a detection area (i.e. a window, or your garage door) on the camera’s User Interface, so that emails will be sent to you to notify you of any motion detected.

You can also view up to 32 cameras from a Windows computer using the included free D-ViewCam software (DCS-100). D-ViewCam also has a robust set of features including centralised alert management and video/audio recording.

Wireless N connectivity

The DCS-932L camera includes Wireless N technology for wider coverage around your home. Wireless N also allows you to stream high-quality video to remote sites over the Internet. A Site Survey feature also allows you to view and connect to nearby wireless networks with ease. The DCS-932L also includes a standard Ethernet port for connections to traditional wired networks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good security camera but not without flaws 10 Dec 2011
I set this camera up today. The process was for the most part very straightforward. A setup DVD is included and since it seemed to be Windows-only I had to use an old Windows laptop rather than my Macbook. There are methods of setup using a Mac but I didn't explore them.

The camera has to be connected to your router using a supplied LAN cable, and is then discovered over your network as part of the setup process. During this process a password needs to be set to access the camera via your network. Be careful here! More on my issue with this later. This part of the setup is very straightforward, and the camera is up and running in no time. I downloaded the free iphone app and was watching live video on my iphone straight away. I also downloaded the ipad app, 69p, which does more or less the same thing. It is possible to take a snapshot of what you are seeing on both the iphone and ipad, as well as adjusting the sound volume. The sound quality is fairly poor, but the video quality is acceptable.

Once the setup is complete the camera can be disconnected from the LAN cable and functions perfectly well over wifi. The camera has to be powered from the mains, and since the power cable is quite short options for placement are a little restricted. The next step is to set up an online profile via the D-link website. This is also very easy and once done the camera can be viewed through a web browser. However the website seems quite buggy and slow. The ipone/ipad apps are far better.

In order to access the camera and adjust its settings it is necessary to use the D-link website within your profile. This is where my problems started.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Technology in a Small Package 14 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase
Excellent build quality. Neat and fairly unobtrusive to place around home. Easy to set up, albeit that the software can be a little flaky at times. I particularly like that the unit works independently of my PC and directly with a Wi-Fi router i.e. The PC does not have to be on for these cameras to work. The smartphone App is an absolute must for remote monitoring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking bit of kit 23 July 2012
Verified Purchase
Bought one to see how effective it was. Simply great would sum it up! Installation was easy, motion detection was tricky to set up until I upgraded the firmware, then all was well. The system now sends me an email whenever it is triggered with 6 pictures of the cameras view, 3 seconds before the trigger and 3 seconds after. The free app available to iphone users makes it even better, I now have a live feed wherever I go!
Bought a second one now and its equally as good. The only advice I can give is when you set up your second camera, go through the whole installation process including the bit that says 'set up dlink account'. You'll already have an account from your first camera but on the second time you run it, it will pick up the second camera and associate it to your first account so that you can monitor both cameras through the same account.
Really cant fault this piece of kit, its so good the thieving step son is furious that he can no longer break into the house and nick stuff!!
30 quid cheaper on Amazon than e-bay too :)

5.0 out of 5 stars EASY PEASY 25 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase
Will keep this short and sweet as there is plenty of other detailed reviews out there relating to this IP Camera.

Ok so my system is an Apple iMac, iPhone4s, Galaxy S2, Ipad2, Synology DS 112J single NAS drive & 300M Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router TD-W8960N.

Previously I tried a Foscam unit out but the complexity was bewildering, the Dlink unit (second cam on order) was simple to set up, just plug the mains lead in connect the lan cable between the cam & router follow the simple instructions and bingo...... streaming live video via my nas to every wireless gadget we own, i'm no geek but with some simple knowledge its easy to set up.

much has been said regarding the wireless properties of this camera, NOT SO....... by pressing the button on the back of the camera and then pressing my PSS button on my router the two units paired up and a wireless signal was being beamed from my bedroom to the NAS, now all set up we have streamed images being sent to the NAS, any movement detected by the camera & the NAS will automatically record on the NAS.

If you're looking for basic security system THIS IS IT......BRILLIANT VERY IMPRESSED

For MAC users the CD supplied is rubbish, it only covers Windows. you can download the install process and register your camera with D-LiNK (make a note of the IP & MAC address) you will need it when adding the camera to your NAS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect... 26 Nov 2011
By Mike J VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
### Update Feb 12: Since writing this review, I have purchased another cam. I now have both cam's setup to email me at work if anyone comes to my front or back door. I get photo's of the postman and people delivering leaflets regularly. It's very comforting to be able to check everything is OK at home when your not there. Still a 4 star product because of issues below, but excellent and recommended. ###

This is a fantastic gadget, and it was going to get a five star review, which I very rarely award, however, it was just let down right at the last moment, read on...

First, the good stuff. It's very easy to setup (I would recommend some basic understanding of networks, IP Addresses, etc. a total novice may struggle), the picture quality is great, sound quality isn't perfect but still very good. The frame rate (smoothness of picture movement, TV's are around 24fps) reduces as you increase the picture quality, and at the highest quality I was getting around 18-19fps, which is very useable, only slight jerkiness.

Even the night vision performance is good. The night image more or less looks like a slightly darker black and white version of the day or lit view. The cam looks neat and seems well made.

I have the cam setup at home on my wireless network (you can plug it in as well, doesn't have to be wireless) looking through my front window towards the front door. If someone rings the door bell, I can pick up my iPod, run the D-Link app and connect to the cam within about 10-15 seconds, see who it is, and answer the door or not... great!

I can even use the same iPod and connect to the cam from work, some miles away.
