ONLY IN POLISH
Fascynująca i malo znana karta historii polskiego ruchu oporu. Opowieść o okupacyjnej rzeczywistości i spadochroniarzach, którzy zostają przerzuceni do Polski. Przeszkolona w Anglii grupa polskich żolnierzy ląduje na terytorium kraju. Poznaje realia życia w zajętej przez Niemców Warszawie i otrzymuje konspiracyjne przydzialy. W ulicznej oblawie, jeden z żolnierzy zostaje aresztowany i osadzony na Pawiaku. Przyjaciele rozpoczynają walkę o uwolnienie go z rąk gestapo. Niemcy przygotowują plan przeniknięcia do struktur polskiego podziemia. Podstępem i prowokacją starają się zwerbować do swej agentury nieświadomych tej gry Polaków. Odcinki: 1. Skok 2. Fascynująca i malo znana karta historii polskiego ruchu oporu. Opowieść o okupacyjnej rzeczywistości i spadochroniarzach, którzy zostają przerzuceni do Polski. W Warszawie żolnierze podziemia żyją z falszywą tożsamością i w ciąglym zagrożeniu. Niezwykle intensywnie przeżywają trudne chwile swojej mlodości, równie mocno kochając i nienawidząc. Odważni i niezawodni, decydują się w bojowej akcji odbić przyjaciela z niewoli.Odcinki: 7. Firstly, this is all spoken in Polish but has English subtitles if selected. The acting and dialogue are excellent and it's easy for an English speaking viewer to understand. The sets, uniforms and vehicles are all very authentic looking, as are the action scenes set during World War Two. The story is both very intelligent and interesting and shows the varying viewpoints of the characters' intentions in a balanced way. The story takes place mainly in occupied Warsaw - the attention to detail is very impressive and occasional real WW2 black & white film of Warsaw is blended in for a few seconds between scenes to very good effect. The characters are very believable and there's a good balance between build-up, action, character development and the occasional love interests amongst the resistance fighters and the Jewish victims in the Warsaw ghetto as well.

The cost of the box set might seem expensive, but there are a total of 13 episodes (44 minutes each episode plus credits) over 4 discs. I've watched many WW2 films (including the excellent Scandinavian ones) and Czas Honoru (Time Of Honour) ranks up there at the top.

Not as action packed as the subsequent seasons, season 1 is nevertheless edge of your seat stuff and I watched a bunch of episodes in a row each time. One of the best episodes is Easter which captures the essence of the weekend in Polsih tradition. While subsequent seasons had more blood and guts season 1 is masterclass in dramatic less is more.

I watched all twelve episodes over the weekend. I can't wait for the subsequent seasons to arrive. Anyone wanting to know about the Polish Resistance in Warsaw would find this series both historically informative and enjoyable. It has strong characters, great action sequences, drama and tense moments. The Polish underground movement was the biggest in occupied Europe. This series does the activities of the Polish resistance and partisan groups proud. If you have an interest in Poland or are of Polish descent like me then this series is a must have for the DVD collection.
