4.0 out of 5 stars CYCLOP ACTION, 22 Mar 2012
By NOMAD
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This film has everything...A dodgy storyline, awful accents,TIBERIUS,is this how he went down in history?...MARCUS ROMULUS,who the hell was he? THAT SAID,The film has some very good scenes of life in ancient ROME...the costumes of roman soldiers and gladiators are excellent...NOW ,the action starts immediately, plenty of over the top gore, the CYCLOPS is done very well,c.g.i of a good standard...plenty of fights in the arena, blood everywhere...THIS IS NOT A SLOW FILM...Don't take it too serious, sit back and enjoy...A ROGER CORMAN production........NOMAD.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought..... 14 April 2009
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is really strange as I bought it from the States after reading a few reviews and thought I'd give it a go. It's a strange movie to say the least. The film seems to suffer from a lack of budget, either that or they spent so much on the CG effect Cyclops that they had nothing left to spend on actors.... The really odd thing is that the plot is rubbish, the scenery non existent, the out-of-Rome scenes being stuck in the local wood, the actors cardboard, but I quite liked it. It did keep me watching to the end anyway. The CG monster is good enough and I've certainly seen a lot worse in my time.

WOW!! what a strange film this is to review. I guaruntee it is totally unlike any creature flick out in the last 5 years or so. Gladiator meets CGI 7th voyage of sinbad meets.....i dunno really...er gorefest in rome. The CGI cyclops is actually pretty damn good. About 50.000 $ short of big budget convincing, but still it interracts with its victims and surroundings practically seamlessly. They really spent the money on this behemoth and its head ripping, flesh tearing antics. The human counterparts unfortunately dont fare as well. Eric roberts keeps making bad choices in his acting. Shame! he started off so well. The dumbest scene is where the lead gladiator tries to explain freedom to the giant. Its like the director went on a tea break and a 6 year-old filmed the scene. apart from that tho this roman raucous rip roaring romp is the most entertaining creature feature ive seen in an age. i normally hate CGI monsters but hats off this time the boys did good. This little gem has teeth and aint afraid to bear 'em. Surely destined to reach cult status. Start it now and buy your copy. MEEEEEEAAAAATTTT!!!!
