Woah!! What can I say I was shocked how good this album is. Considering no one has really heard of Lisp, apart from a bit of airtime on XFM, the production is brilliant. The songs are well written and superbly executed with passion and real feeling. The overall sound is multilayered and really rich , the sort of sound you'd associate with Rik Rubin.
This band is a class act and really deserve to do well. It is rare that someone come up with something that works so well and that has some originality.
Whilst Lisp have a fairly distintive sound, like a blend of Portishead, Depeche Mode meets the Cure, there is good variation accross the album from the haunting Flatspin, the moving Distance Over Time to the dramtic and operatic Scissor Paper Stone.
Buy this album, forget the other names on the music scene at the moment , buy this as its a real discovery . You won't be disappointed.

One day i was browsing through a 2nd hand cd stall in a market somewhere in London, and I noticed this Lisp CD. I do not know why I brought it, probably because it was £2.99 in a sale. However, I am really glad I did. Lisp are a original great sounding band. The album 'cycles' explores a many styles and does it very well. Comparisons would be the cure and portishead(a little), sad lovers and giants (some) and the rest is the original sound of Lisp. I would definately reccommend that you go out and buy this album. My best find of the year by far.

I think 'Cycles' is one of the most innovative and original albums I have ever heard. The tracks on the album are crafted it seems not simply as songs but as pieces of art. Each track has a personality all of it's own yet at the same time has the ability to fit perfectly into the album concept. The music mixes dub, lo-fi, acoustic, piano, orchestration and guitar to tremendous effect and this is the type of album you can find yourself mentally submerging into. Lyrically the songs are thoughtful, dreamy, sentimental and poetic in equal measure and the lead vocalists voice has a rich, warm and strangely calming tone to it which all adds to build the atmosphere.

Single 'Flatspin' is perhaps the best track of all but the album has many highlights including 'So Good' and 'Distance Over Time' which features some poetry chanting amongst it's backing vocals. All in all this is a stimulating and fascinating record and is highly recommended for anyone prepared to 'explore'.
