Although I know little about bikes, it took me only about 90 minutes to assemble the whole thing. The instructions are rather poor. Although each part was identified, there was no explanation of how to assemble them. I managed it only because I have an engineering background. The bike itself is a dream to ride. The motor takes all the hard work out of cycling uphill and achieves a good speed. The only gripes I have are that because the tyres are inflated to 65psi, and the saddle isn't sprung, it gives a very spine-jarring ride over rough roads, and it is very heavy. I'm really quite excited about the machine and invent reasons for using it virtually every day. I'm in my 70's now and it's given me a new sense of adventure. Don't hesitate - get this bike if you want to be useful and at the same time get some gentle exercise. Although it comes complete with fully adjusted gears and brakes, lights and reflectors, I have added a front basket and rear panniers.

Rather like being pushed from behind by your parents when you first learn to ride a bike. You can go up a fairly steep hill without being knackered when you get to the top, but it still gives you a fair amount of exercise. Also good for setting off quickly when the traffic lights turn green, as you can use the 'accelerator'. Easy to ride, and pretty comfortable. Perfect for older people (of which I am one!).

Received the bike on 23 Dec. It was to be a gift for my wife. I am a mechanic and it took me the best part of 2 hours to build the bike unlike the 5 minutes that's stated in the advert. Many people will find this bike very difficult to build so it is best to take it to a bike shop and pay to have it built.
Now the bad part.
After the first trial run the battery went dead. I then put it on the charger but the battery did not seem to be charging.
I contacted the company and to cut a long story short their after sales was a joke.
I was then advised to package the battery up very well for collection by courier as was told that if the battery arrived and the packaging was damaged they would refuse to accept it and it would be returned to me.
I had to take a day off work as they could not give me an approx time for the courier collection. A days lost pay !!
After a month and many phone calls they advised me that the battery tested fine, so I asked what other part would I need to send next, they suggested that the charger may be at fault but that was a guess. I then said am I expected to return the bike a piece at a time until they solve their problem. They reluctantly said they would do me a favour ! and send me another charger at no further cost ! eventually I received the battery and charger and every thing is fine now.
The moral of this story is if you get a bike and it works fine then good but if like me and you have a problem then be prepared to deal with the dumbest company I have ever experienced. You have been warned.

Martin

once i received the bike <the carriers rubbish> i had 1 look at it in its box and took it to my local bike shop as i,m no handy man.they put the bike together ,set up the brakes etc and it was £20 well spent.I use the bike every day and it great, its so easy even up steep hills. The seat is a bit hard so i changed that to a gel seat for those longer trips which i,ve done a few,it has got 7 gears and 2 more would have been good <more speed>however i,m pleased with the bike, now saving money on petrol and it keeps you fit.Buy some glasses to stop the flys going in your eyes,a good crash helment is a must as when cars over take you some don,t allow for your speed.Once you have done your ride the battery soon charges up.My wife use it as well to go down town and she finds it easy to ride. The lights are good and i have put a carrier panels on the back <more shopping> David

Bought this bike for my wife to ride to work; it's a very solid and well-made bike, and the electric motor gives enough assistance to ride easily up slopes. On the flat, it's very quick and easy to ride.

I originally bought this bike to share between my wife and myself. It wasn't long before we realised we wanted one apiece, as they are fun to ride and distance seems no object. Plus, we wanted to experience these exciting rides together.
The Cyclamatic GTE Step Through E-Bike is a beautiful bike and we were suitably impressed by the front and rear lights which were already fitted and I assume run off the battery ... Both lights are far more powerful than we expected and immediately took away any apprehensions about meeting other traffic, whether from in front or approaching behind us.
We are not sure how many miles we have been clocking, but even though riding for up to 45 mins the charge doesn't seem to change to any great degree. We shall have to try a different tack.
We are extremely pleased with this bike.

I would happily rate this product 5 stars. My reservations relate to the absence of instructions or support, which I will comment on later.

When I first considered an electric bike, I found other reviews of limited help in my decision-making so, at the risk of trying the reader's patience, perhaps I should say how I came into electric biking, fortunately with no regrets. Formerly I used an ordinary bike, mainly to reach the next village, a 6 mile moderately hilly round trip (as a septuagenarian, I am poor on my feet but had no difficulty cycling). However. I came off when skidding on a loose service, doing myself all sorts of mischief including badly smashing my wrist. For a while I doubted that I would ever ride again particularly as the latter injury limits the pressure I can tolerate from the handlebar. A friend who has an electric bike let me try his to see if I could cope. Confidence returned; hence this review.

I chose the Cyclamatic GTE because it seemed good value and it has a lithium ion rather than a lead acid battery, offering at least in theory superior range and life . The bike seems well-made, attractively designed and performs well. As expected, The electric motor does need a little help up steep hills but I am happy to pedal so long as the effort is gentle. On the flat, it wouldn't matter if one never pedalled at all. As for range, I cannot really judge that because I charge the battery between each use; the bike is heavy and I would not fancy pedalling it home uphill. Unlike some batteries, the one supplied does not show residual charge. There is a system of coloured lights which claims to do this but as these seem to flash on and off under normal riding their purpose appears to be more decorative than useful.
