L'America del XXI secolo è contaminata da una mortale epidemia ed è nelle mani di una banda di folli che ha rapito l'unica persona in grado di produrre un antidoto. A Van Damme il compito di salvare la scienziata.

I enjoyed the reviewer who said that the costumes look like something you would see at an erasure gig, kudos brother as you are right but cyborg is a pretty good movie, almost arty in places and pretty dark and gloomy and doomy.

The film is set in an apocalyptic future where a plague has wiped out most of civilisation and few remain and those that do are starving and outnumbered against a goup of villains all named after a make of guitar,a bit cheesy me thinks, but hold on wait a minute, van damme is here to save us and all could well be good again in the world.

The film is enjoyable and uses sergio leones techniques where there are long moments with dialogue, and in places this works,in others its clinging on for dear life. This is saturday night fodder that you will enjoy, whether you put it alongside the best dvds in the world is entirely your call.

The post apocalyptic world is threatened by a plague and JCVD as Gibson Rickenbacker, is the Slinger (think gunslinger) tasked with transporting the cyborg of the title and her cure to a team of scientists in Atlanta. Martial Arts mayhem ensues as his quest is hampered by the interventions of bad guy Fender and his odd gang of nutters. For a lower budget movie, the sets are quite good at times and proceedings have a rich colour palette with scenery draped in pastel colours. In stylistic terms and set dressing it rises above other b-movie genre offerings. Apparently the movie was cut to pieces to remove director Albert Pyun's artistic leanings but they are still apparent in some of the symbolism, the slow mo and the aforementioned colours. I found the fights a bit of a slog fest really with Vincent Klyn (Fender) awkwardly getting the better of JCVD on two occasions before their final fight. This is an early Van Damme and while it suffers from mediocre acting it's ambitous in terms of setting and does have a curious entertainment value. This is reportedly based upon a re-worked sequel script to Masters of the Universe. The director released his own version of the move in 2011. For a very similar movie which fares much better, you might try American Cyborg (Steel Warrior).

Remember the first time i saw this and i thought it was really good, bought it again and it's still pretty good! Probably one of the better JCVD films. Because i swear the majority of them aren't that good. I do enjoy a good JCVD film! I recommend it to any who enjoy his films.

I quite enjoyed this though I think much of the enjoyment comes from nostalgia. If you don't remember Van Damme from his eighties or early nineties heyday and aren't a fan of low budget cheesy action films than you probably won't like this.

It doesn't really make much sense and it is ridiculous but there is plenty of action and pantomime villiany.
The fight scenes are as over the top and implausible as I remembered from this type of film.
Yes he does do the splits!
(I am just reviewing the film rather than any particular version or DVD extras)

Was a little unsure whether to but the blu ray, as several online entries said they dont play on uk players. However i had no trouble playing them on any of my players. Was great watching them in full hd, enjoyed the film thoroughly and happy to say it was worth every penny i spent on it.

This film is one of my favourite films of all time. I fully understand Johan most people would perceive this film as absolute rubbish with a diabolical script, awful story line, mostly bad acting, casting and production value, but I think it is one of jcvd's absolute finest. There is definitely great potential which was never archived. But jcvd's is a hero of mine and I love bad films. Another fav of mine is john carpenters ghosts of mars. Need I say more. If you like god awful films like me, then this is EPIC.
