I have used PD9 for over 12 months and was very pleased by its features but had some stability problems with rendering and disc burning. When PD10 was released with improved rendering speed etc. I upgraded with a purchase through Amazon in order to get the disc plus the manual. ( At 290+ pages exhaustive but difficult to use as it has no index to it ! I like a hard copy to refer to but perhaps because of this the built in one might be easier to use. ) Whilst everything installed without problems and ran ok I immediately encountered problems on the timeline with the video freezing whilst the audio continued unaffected. This occured regularly in every video but at variable places each time the item was run and with no obvious reasons for it occuring. 6 weeks later after numerous e-mails with Cyberlink all of which provided many suggestions, which took time to trial, but which achieved no improvement. ( One of these possibly led to a major hard drive failure and a charge to local technical support to correct. ) The e-mail conversation included a review of my hardware and software set ups and whilst some adjustments and updates were made at no time was it suggested that it was incompatable with PD10 requirements. I returned the package to Amazon. ( Good old Amazon ! I contacted them before the 30 day return period they agreed to extend the period in view of the on going efforts to find a solution. ) I have now returned to PD9 and will look elsewhere for a better solution.
Before buying, try the trial and read the members forum as I do not seem to be alone in having problems with PD10. Possibly also buy from Amazon rather than direct. It may cost a little more but there are no arguements over performence if you want to return the product because it doesn't work correctly. Overall 8 weeks plus wasted on software that for me did not work correctly. Beware !
