Big Ben cyberbike 6 Mar 2011
By Gill
Fun:
Easy to put together, but poor instructions for actually making it work. Luckily I'd read some of these reviews, which had mentioned a small switch (difficult to spot) on the handlebar upright which you need to have in the correct position for it to work with the Wii. I'm sure lots of people who complained that they couldn;t get the cyberbike to work hadn't discovered this switch. There are no instructions for using the cyberbike disc, so you have to work it out for yourself, which is therefore slow and frustrating. this could be easily remedied, no excuse for this kind of poor service. Having said all of this, I'm really enjoying using the bike, the story mode is good fun and time passes in a flash. It's very easy to cycle for 3/4 of an hour without realising it. I'm getting fitter!

Fun:
It won't really give the super fit a real work out as the resistance on the pedals isn't that strong (but you could put some ankle weights on to make it harder), but for the unfit who use the excuse that exercise is boring this is an ideal starter bike and will get your heart rate up. You don't really notice the time as you are concentrating on the games.

The games are OK and you get 4 on the disk:

*Cycling - cycling around trying to collect all the rubbish before you get to the end of the track. Some tracks are like mazes.
*Mining truck - this is a reaction level where you have to make quick turns and avoid obstacles at speed.
*Submarine - not really worked this one out yet.
*Helicopter level - this is a co-ordination exercise, where paddling faster makes you go up, the handle bars make you turn left and right and you have to push a button to move forward. This one can mess with your head if you're not too co-ordinated.

The bike itself seems reasonably sturdy and can take my 18 stone without any creaking. It was easy to put together only taking a few minutes. You do need to make sure the switch on the back face of the handle bars is set to cb though or the paddles won't do anything. My only issue is with the saddle, its a bit uncomfortable and I can't really take more than 15 minutes without some extra padding.

It's not really a bike for the very tall. I am 6ft and have the saddle and handles at the maximum height which is fine for me, but if you were much taller you probably wouldn't be able to get the settings right.

Overall, I have found the bike to be pretty good and hope there will be some more games out for it soon.

Could be better. 9 Mar 2011
Fun:
I was so excited that they finally brought out a home exercise bike that you could cycle and have some interest at the same time. I looked into getting a cycle dvd but these were only aimed at racers. The Wii bike was easy to assemble but the instructions to connect to the game were confusing. The bike itself is sturdy but uncomfortable - you can't cycle for very long without getting a dead bum! The resistance on the pedals has hardy any difference from easy to hard - I thought perhaps mine had gone wrong, and was contemplating sending it back until I saw the other reviews. It's OK if you cycle for a length of time, then the highest resistance does make you feel as if you have exercised. Generally, I am quite happy with it, as it does make you feel that you want to exercise more.
