I have 2 of these and they are pretty bright compared to others I have had. Trouble is, after awhile, when winding it up- you may find the plastic wind up handle snaps... then it is really not good at all. I am here looking for another 2 torches to replace these. I would not buy this one again- even though it does give a great light. It happened after a year or so and I did use it every day to walk the dog at night. I was not rough with it. It is just the way it is made- the winder just finally snapped in two.

Living in area with no street lighting, I was looking for a medium sized wind up torch to save having to replace batteries in my old torch - for both price and environmental reasons. I really wanted to be able to fit the new torch easily into a coat pocket and found it irratating that none of the descriptions gave the size of the torch. Based on the weight, which was given, I guessed it was roughly what I wanted and seemed the best option for me on Amazon. It turned out to be approximately 18.5 cm long and 6 cm wide at its thickest part reducing to 4.5 cm in the handle which is really a bit bigger than I wanted but OK. The light is very bright and does lasts well. I was surprised how well it retains its charge between use which could be several weeks apart. Given that the case is made of plastic, it feels reasonably robust and, with reasonable care, I can not see having a problem with the winding handle (see other reviews). Overall, after a couple of months use, I am happy with the purchase. Deducting one star may be a bit harsh, but I am not yet over the initial dissappoitment.

I need to put the geese away in the dark and needed a rechargable torch, Saw this and thought it was a wonderful idea, as I already have a wind up radio. I am nearly satisfied with this torch, I was disappointed that a charger didnt come with the torch but is available for extra money. Otherwise it is just what I wanted.

We have had our wind up cyba-lite for three years now.

Excellent light and quick recharge using winder only takes 10 or 20 seconds to get a strong light from scatch.

I notice one person had mentioned the handle breaking on them - its true that this handle can break - ours did too, BUT . .

A great tip for you here - The underside of the handle has deep grooves in it, presumable to reduce weight ?? - so even if broken, all you have to do is mix a batch of Araldite and fill those grooves !! Use tape to keep the broken handle parts held together.

Once hardened, we needed to file off the excess araldite around where this break was, but it is solid as a rock and has kept going strong with no other sign of trouble !

It was repaired two years ago and it survived a 3 week safari holiday in Kenya.

You'll be pleased with it.

We just wonder why they did not make a solid plastic handle in the 1st place as the rest of this torch has remained - dare we say - "indestructable" ?

This is a great wind up torch. It is well built, has a good bean and isn't too much trouble to wind up. The light lasts an amazing period of time once fully wound. With a little effort it is good to know that one is making some contribution to the environment

I was very impressed with the quality of this torch. Although very light having no batteries as such it did look and feel well made. I use mine exclusively for camping where the light is plenty bright enough to see you across a dark campsite at night. A minute or so of winding gives plenty of useable time and I'm so impressed that I now want one for the car and one for emergency use in the house. i.e. power cuts.

Top marks for this torch. Sturdy, adequately bright after a few winds. Comfortable to hold. I walk the dogs in the dark quite happily across the pitch black moor. Get one.
