This isn't for old hands like me who have been using MS Office tools PowerPoint, Word, Excel for years, know they are only using a fraction of the capability and want something to help them get more from the software.

I started using MSOffice back in the late 1980's, I think, when my American bosses moved us from word processing software and Lotus123. Word, PowerPoint and Excel were shoved on our desktops and we 'learned' how to use the tools. I use Word frequently at work and at home. I use Excel seldom (fortunately I have people who think numbers are fun and use Excel for me!). But I do like to play with .ppt to create my own business presentations as well as play around with creative stuff at home like birthday cards, bookmarks etc.

I'd hoped this book - being hyped as the 'Cutting Edge... Dummies' book would take me those few steps beyond where I am today (and have been for the last decade with PowerPoint)and explain to me in terms a Dummy like me could understand just how I can make presentations more interactive and alive for audiences - I get more and more audience feedback that meetings that rely on plain old PowerPoint slides just don't hack it anymore. The closest this book got for me was to tell me how to insert a hyperlink into the presentation for a video clip (or similar) and even then it stopped short of telling how to convert the hyperlink icon into a prettier image to finish off the effect. Anyway, inserting a film clip functionality existed in previous versions of .ppt. There was nothing in here that made a light come on in my head and a voice whisper, "Ahah! So THIS is how I reinvigorate my PowerPoint as a business tool!"

If you are truly a PowerPoint novice, this book will be of assistance. However, for economy's sake I'd recommend you buy a secondhand copy of an earlier PowerPoint version for Dummies and save some cash. This book has little in it that you won't find out for yourself as you get to know the software anyway.

I've been left nonplussed by this book. I'll keep it because it might be useful for my teens who are in college and university respectively, but I have a sneaking suspicion this will be too tame for them!

Geetesh has done it again! 11 April 2008
By Linda F. Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
All I can say is WOW, Geetesh has once again done a bang-up job of presenting his "cutting edge" techniques, this time for PowerPoint 2007. And also, once again, he's included an amazing CD with all kinds of helpful software on it. Because I've been using and teaching PowerPoint for a long, long time, when I opened this book I immediately looked for a "What's New in PowerPoint 2007" section, but I couldn't find it and was disappointed, but not for long. Once I opened PowerPoint 2007 on my computer and started playing around, every time I couldn't find something in the new interface, a quick glance at the index of this book and I found it immediately. And, don't let the "for Dummies" title fool you ... this book is an excellent addition to any PowerPoint user's library, from beginner through advanced user. Geetesh presents everything in a very readable fashion; it feels like he's right at the computer with you, looking over your shoulder. If you have his 2003 version of this book, this one is very similar but gets you used to using the new 2007 interface with ease.
I highly recommend this as a great reference to keep right beside your computer whenever you are working in PowerPoint 2007.

Cutting Edge PowerPoint 2007 for Dummies is NOT just for dummies 19 Feb 2008
By Ginger Marks - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
As a presentation designer and author of Presentational Skills for the Next Generation even I found inspiration within the contents of this delightful book. Yes, delightful is the operative word. Geetesh Bajaj's sense of humor sprinkled throughout was a refreshing change from ordinary skills books. His mix of clear explanations and helpful hints prove his credentials and expertise with PowerPoint are solidly established. If you are looking to add to your knowledge quickly or are just learning how to add the power of PowerPoint presentations to your marketing program this is the book you will want to read from cover to cover. And don't miss the free CD with Bonus Chapter, tools and resources too.

Even Better Now 18 Aug 2007
By Dilly Korn - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I own the PowerPoint 2003 edition of this book, and this is even better. I like the fact that the author goes so much out of his way to include coordinated material on the attached CD.
