Product Description

Everyone has warned new-minted realtor Savannah Martin that real estate is a cutthroat business. But Savannah doesn't think she's supposed to take the warning literally ... until an early morning phone call sends her to an empty house on the 'bad' side of town, where she finds herself standing over the butchered body of a competitor, face to face with the boy her mother always warned her about.

Rafe Collier is six feet three inches of testosterone and trouble; tall, dark, and dangerous, with a murky past and no future--not the kind of guy a perfect Southern Belle should want to tangle with. In any way. But wherever Savannah turns, there he is, and making no bones about what he wants from her.

Now Savannah must figure out who killed real estate queen Brenda Puckett, make a success of her new career, and avoid getting killed--or kissed--by Rafe, all before the money in her savings account runs out and she has to go back to selling make-up at the mall.

-----Lynda Coker, Between the Pages

5.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a great series 24 Jan 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book last year and immediately had to buy the rest of the series. I loved Savannah and enjoyed seeing her grow into her own person and not just the debutant that she was brought up to be. Rafe was great and as the books progress he gets even better!
The mysteries are enjoyable and not as straightforward as is sometimes the case with 'cosy mysteries'.
I highly recommend this book and all the rest of the series (book 4 was a little different but still good).
Hope you enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Do Southern 'Belles' really behave like this? 20 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot was good, many of the characters were interesting - but I got increasing irritated at Savannah. She never contradicted anyone, she allowed other people to answer her phone and order her food for her, and never dared to have an opinion of her own. Would you really allow some guy that you're not dating to take your phone calls - especially when it might be a business call? And frankly, repeat dinners in a restaurant you hate with a guy who makes you feel bad all the time? I think not - I'm looking for escapism not a guide to domestic oppression. I liked it just enough to read the series, but never got to grips with this characterization.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and Engaging Series 14 Aug 2014

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Enjoyable and engaging read. I seldom buy books where the storyline continues in subsequent books but with this series I soon became hooked on the story of Savannah and Rafe and ended up reading all 8 books this summer! The characters are well written and draw the reader into their lives very effectively. I am pleased I started my reading with book 1 as a starting point, as although each book can be read as a stand alone story, the plot is more effective when read in sequence.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun read 27 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a very formulaic, "writing-by-numbers" style but enjoyable in its own right. Mainly interesting is the choice taken for the main character, who often comes off as stuck-up (almost too subtle to realise it's intentional) but has a heart of gold, and very sympathetic and endearing qualities deep down. The chosen dynamic for Savannah and the main love interest is unnerving at times, and the mentions of how scared she feels around him are perhaps too frequent to be comfortable. A harmless read all in all - if you're looking for groundbreaking look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a nice way to kill time this is it.

I"m currently reading a lot of stuff just for fun. This was entertaining, and a decently written book for this genre. Would read more by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, well written read 3 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Really enjoyed this book. Characters that were endearing and interesting and a good whodunit plot based around the disappearance of an estate agent/realtor. Nice length and held my interest. Prompted me to seek out other work by the author.
