Probably the best book I've ever read, never mind 'I couldn't put it down' - it picked me up, through me about and wouldn't let me go. McLean was some guy, dam clever and surprisingly humble - now I can see what all the fuss is about! It is barbarically bloody and gruesome - no doubt, but it manages to carry a depth to it as the story twists and turns until the end, an ending where a final twist will literally blow you away, I'm still picking myself up! Great read - well done Wayne!!!
Oh, and as for the clue to the whereabouts of his missing Hash, the nine million quid's worth that I read about in all the newspapers - I think I've figured where the pointers are, it's just the working out what they mean that's the hard part!

I've read most of the true crime books written to date, but I think this one is a bit special. It will make you both laugh and cry - but as arguably one of the most gruesome books ever written, terrify. If it's sleepless nights your after - this is your book.!!!

Shocking and engrossing!!!The life this guy lead makes your own life seem utterly boring! From page to page your wondering what else could happen to this guy.... then something worse/ better happens!!! this is 'un-put-down-able',buy it! though not for the squeemish! Some scenes are quite disurbing. As with ohter similiar titles extreme violence is inter spersed with his sensitive insights into life and people. very good. A bit like another must buy 'watch my back' by Geoff thompson fantastic! the other books i'd recommend in the same vein are ,the guvnor and roy pretty boy shaw.

The only way i can discribe this book is aggressive.
Excellent read once i started to read it i had to force myself to stop.

Very graphical and not for the light hearted.

Amazing like for a man who never knew when he was beat.

Worth reading just for chapter 1

OK

Nearly a few years after originally buying this book i have now read in twice more and to say im still amazed by it is a under statement
buy it and ignore the negative reviews

Just a first class story very well written. I'd managed to keep up with the press coverage, at the time, but wish i hadn't waited this long to get the book. Still, better late than never...can't really add to what's already been said by other reviewers, suffice to say that it really does have everything that you'd want in a 'rise and fall' adventure, especially given Mclean's obvious intellect.
