A cracking yarn,

The first thing that impressed me upon reading this book was the style. It had that 50's or 60's adventure style reminiscent of Ian Fleming and Leslie Charteris. The story itself put me in mind of such films as Where No Vultures Fly. Set in a colonial Africa now sadly only a memory it tells the story of an ex-policeman following a trail of diamond smuggling and murder.The writer , whose first-hand experiences provide the backdrop and inspiration for the story, admits that it is largely autobigraphical.
All-in-all a worthwhile read.

This book is certainly a page-turner. From the first page I was completely into the atmostphere of the African veldt, the knowledgeable detail as written by the author and the sensation of being there in person is quite remarkable.
The description of the story is authentic, well written, and in such a time when colonial Africa was transforming itself into a more modern world and re-capturing those days of mystery and intrique is, in itself fascinating, thus making the book a great read and thoroughly recommended. Would make a marvellous film with the backdrop of the wilderness and beauty of this vast country.
