Product Description

CD Description

'Curtis' is the third album from hip hop heavyweight 50 'Curtis Jackson' Cent. Well crafted beats combined with 50's trademark tales of street life and celebrity makes this an interesting and accomplished album. Guest stars include Akon, Eminem, Timbaland, Mary J Blige and Justin Timberlake who features on the single 'Ayo Technology'.

2.0 out of 5 stars 50 Cent Shouldn't Be Curtis, 13 Nov 2007
By DJColzz "DJ MacDonald" (Glasgow, Scotland) - See all my reviews

Yes, well we all know hip-hop is apparently dead. If you listen enough to this poor effort you will certainly wish it was. "Ayo Technology" is by far the premium track, but it just is an awful sounding, bland album. The aforementioned is memorable for the harmonies, but the instrumental track is one of the most annoying I have ever heard. I think "Ayo" only works because of JT's voice and the influence of Timbaland. "Amusement Park" is the only other track well worth a mention.

The same rhythm competing from beginning to end through each track and let's all say "b*tch" a few times (Yeah, now that makes a masterpiece and a classy musical experience) is a bit naïve in this world of hip-hop domination, a bit more bassline wouldn't go amiss either.

This is supposed to be angry and it shows, but this isn't just angry it's downright frustrated and an almost dangerous personality shining through - a bit schizophrenic here and there, one minute they're "b*tches" the next "Ladies". I guess this is how to prevent an accumulation of reacting with violence and express oneself appropriately - through music. Energize that anger 50 Cent by all means, but leave the alter ego Curtis behind, and be our 50 Cent - that's who you are, man. Stop moaning about Kanye getting more attention and look inward for the reasons why this album isn't more appreciated. It simply doesn't deserve to be, the expression of oneself here is weak and uninteresting. The production is poor, even with Dre and Eminem in there; it is shoddy and lacking any real heart.

Thankfully I borrowed this album and didn't buy it. It shall be handed back to its owner later tonight with a great deal of satisfaction in getting it off my hands as it is instantly forgettable.

Incidentally Kanye's album is a marked improvement on this, but not gonna set your world on fire either.

2.0 out of 5 stars Usual Fifty, 27 Nov 2007
Very poor album by Fifty, the problem is whatever he makes will make money because wannabes will buy it, for people real to the game, no ones touching this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT AS GOOD AS OTHER ALBUMS, BUT STILL A GOOD BUY, 24 Oct 2007
By P. Myatt "Computer Whizz" (Lichfield,England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
First off i beileve this album rates quite highly against his other ones: get rich or die tryin and the massacre. I would say it isnt as good as his first but better than his second.
No doubt there are some fantastic traks on there including: ayo technology, amusement park, i`ll still kill, straight to the bank and more. His trak with eminem (peep show) is not the best on the album but is still a good listen.
There are still some other traks worth a mention like fire, my gun go off and touch the sky.
Again there is a mix between gangster hardcore traks and some softer ones to suit most listeners. So overall i am glad i bought this album and i think it is £10 well spent.
