10 of 11 people found the following review helpful By Sara on 13 Oct. 2009
Perhaps I was just a little ambitious, but having never used a sewing machine in my life, I embarked upon making curtains as my first project. This book was my bible. It goes through everything step by step and explains the basics such as cutting material, measuring etc. I didn't use any other book, but just supplemented this book with some instructions found on the internet to adjust the curtains as I wanted them. That said, there are plenty of styles in the book to choose from and I was just being very picky about what I needed. The end result was a great set of curtains for the spare bedroom! The learnings from the book in terms of the basics of machine-sewing have also helped me in subsequent projects with my sewing machine. Would definitely recommend it for beginners.

A Better Book for All! 23 April 2013

Being a proficient seamstress, I really liked this book, once you figure out some of the explanations and terms used. I used scraps to learn the steps and to make sure I understood what was being explained before I went on to my actual drapery fabric (which can be quite expensive to practice on!) All projects turned out beautifully too!
Save you money and print the instructions off the computer 8 Oct. 2009

Figure out what type of curtain that you want and then find the instructions somewhere online. This was an OK book, but I ended up using instructions that I found on the computer.
