The Curse of Fin Milton (In The Shadow of Etherea) [Kindle Edition]

Even if you have never been to Cornwall, you will feel like you are there. The imagery is stunning. You will want to visit St Ives to find out if September Cottage really exists. I was hooked from the beginning and the characters became people I wanted to know. I could not put the book down and the ending was exhiliarating. What an amazing imagination the author has.

Fin Milton leads a frustrating and sad life. Not knowing why he is chosen to spend his days pining for Ellie, the only girl in the world he can and will ever love. Problem is, she can't see him, or learn anything about him. Except once in every ten years when they meet and fall hopelessly in love, which only lasts for two weeks, then Ellie suffers a bout of amnesia and forgets Fin's existence entirely. No one can even speak his name nor can she see photos of their time together, he is well and truly erased.

So, who placed the curse and why? These are the main themes of this fast paced novel.

The idea of forbidden love and unrequited love are themes I love to read about. Sets the ol' heart a flutter as you desperately hope all can be resolved and the two lost lovers can find each other in the end. That's what makes this a page turning read. I just had to know how all would turn out for Fin and Ellie.

Add to the heart wrenching love affair, the fantasy element of witchcraft, curses and the ability to plane, and you have one great read. All set in the picturesque backdrop of lovely Cornwall, with vivid descriptions deftly painted by the author, putting the reader in each and every scene.

My only reservation in giving this five stars was the POV change. I tended to lose track in scenes of who I was listening too, and had to re-read on occasion which pushed it below the five stars for me.

Otherwise an entertaining and fun read, that pulls on the heart strings and fulfils the fantasy quota.
