This was the first colour Hammer Horror film and also the first horror team-up of the legendary Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Basically, this DVD is a re-issue of the DVD from the Blu-Ray of this film, so if you already own the Blu-Ray there is no need to buy this. I bought this version, because I have not yet experienced the delights of Blu-Ray and I noticed that nobody else had posted a review for this version yet. This is worth getting, however, for DVD buyers, because it features the infamous censored "eyeball" scene, available for the very first time on DVD in this country. Buyers should be aware, though, of this film's vintage (it was first released in 1957) and the picture and sound quality reflects this. The picture and sound quality of this version is no better or no worse than the previously released and now obsolete Warner DVD, which was released a decade ago. I own this and the Warner version, so I was able to compare the two. However, I digress....this is still a superb Hammer Horror film and one of their very best, though not quite on a level with their Dracula of 1958, but almost. I never tire of watching this and the acting, direction, script and sets and costume designs are all superb. I can completely recommend this to Hammer fans, fans of Cushing and Lee, or classic horror fans in general. A true horror classic.
