5.0 out of 5 stars The best cookery book i've ever used, 15 Dec 2004
By Julian M Ridge (Brighton, East Sussex United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I am a male, with limited kitchen skills, but with the help of this book i have created curries as good, no, even better, than any curry i have bought from my local curry houses. It is fantastically easy to follow, clear instructions, and the results have been nothing short of brilliant. Well recommended, each member of my family will be receiving a copy in their christmas stockings.

5.0 out of 5 stars South Atlantic Currys, 29 Sep 2002
By Mr Ian Bell (Aberdeen United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This delightful book brought simple, delicious Indian cookery to a group of Bristow Helicopter employees based in the Falkland Islands. We had an abundance of free rations and spices but other than the usual male staples communal meals peaked at corned beef hash.
My colleague the 'Ox' bought the book and took it down. Our communal kitchen/sitting room previously named the Gaff now became the Gaff-Mahal. With no 'skills' to call on we could not believe how easy it was to create authentic curries and other dishes.
The book is written by three Indian house wives, not restaurenters. These dishes are what real people eat daily in India. The method, preparation, and cooking is straight forward and uncomplicated. The use of oil and ghee is limited, making these recipes low fat and nutricious.
It is the product of three very eloquent ladies cookery lives and recipes. This book offers an abundance of V.F.M. Thats fantastic, value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, 16 Jul 2004
By A Customer
This book actually contains real and authentic recipes - not the water-down versions you find in many curry houses these days. With simple, but effective recipes, i have consistently been able to produce spectacular meals.
A must have - they should publish a glossy version with pictures though!

Im not quite sure how to describe this book! There are plenty of recipes but they seem to use very basic ingredients. For example, okra and chips curry, the mind boggles! Read more
