What a truly delightful book. Curious Observations is a stroll through all manner of country traditions including a wartime reflection on whether Father Christmas should wear a gas mask and a piece on cricket, "The National Game of England". The photos are equally as fascinating as the descriptions.

Wonderful and entertaining look through the archives of Country Life. One of those books that you can pick up again and again and find a little titbit that makes you smile.

A nice little book with lots of bringing together folklore & observations about plants, planting and gardens. I think there will be some useful guidance on what grows, and what doesn't grow, with what. A pleasure to read in a quiet moment, and then think about putting into practice; I may well revisit it over the years.
