The Cure is amongst my prize recordings and mostly for "Blame it on my youth" - it is a delight without any doubt at all. It's worth the wait just for the outro, where the sequence is beautifully deconstructed with chord substitutions, and other musical stuff I know nothing about but sounds blooming' wonderful! (see below)
The Trio have recorded a number of albums (and I guess I have pretty much most of them) and whilst I love it all, there are ballads when the guys just get everything right and it is truly sublime.
"Blame it.." isn't the only noteworthy track here either - "Old Folks", "Body & Soul" too - then there's the more up-tempo stuff..
As a drummer (see above), I've worked hard towards having the level of musicality and freedom that Jack De Johnette can achieve in these ballads and I sound as stiff as a cardboard box by comparison - more practice for me and I'll use this as my textbook.
What I find all the more amazing is I met Keith Jarrett many years ago on Sloane Street in london and he has amazingly small hands!
I would rate this as one of the top 10 albums you must have in your collection if you're serious about jazz so I guess it doesn't get better as a recommendation than that!

There are so many Jarrett/Peacock/DeJohnette LIVE CD's out there... this one is my personal favourite: Blame it on my youth!
