Product Description

You're a nurse. You believe in what you do. You know your work makes a difference.

But you're tired. The work feels exhausting and you don't feel effective. There seems to be more problems than solutions. Nothing you do seems to be enough. You leave your workplace feeling discouraged and exhausted. You wonder how long you can keep on working so hard and feeling so lousy.

This is burnout; the emotional exhaustion and fatigue that interferes with RN's ability to work and live efficiently and with joy-filled purpose.

Burnout is happening to nurses in every clinic, hospital, city, state and country. It's a quiet epidemic nurses talk about behind closed doors. Many nurses decide the best way to cure burnout is to leave the nursing profession. Other nurses stay in draining jobs and lose the vitality they once brought to their patients and colleagues as a RN.

This is the problem. There IS a solution.

There is a cure for burnout. Many of the solutions seem like common sense, yet, when applied, they make a world of difference. Reclaiming your right to healthy living and working might mean declaring war on burnout- and the causes behind it.

But it can be done; burnout can be cured. It takes one step at a time, one day at a time. You can recover from burnout, learn the signs and symptoms of when it creeps up and prevent it from coming back. The process isn't complicated but it will take energy and effort. Every bit of the work is worth the effort. The world needs RN's at their best; we need to take care of ourselves and one another.

For all healthcare providers out there, this book is a must read! I've been a nurse for twenty something years and I've been in and out of the burnout road so many times before. Melissa Auclair puts into words what I have always wanted to tell myself and countless other nurses...that there is hope and there are ways to avoid or resolve this malady called Burnout...This action guide is short and sweet and allows us to peek into some of the author's personal experiences as a RN. Stay in the healthcare field, take off the super-nurse cape once in a this book, avoid the burnout...

This book sheds new light on the burden carried by the nursing profession. Melissa AuClair uses personal experience and careful research to lay bare the extraordinary need for nurses to explore alternate options and give themselves permission for self-care. Melissa outlines critical action steps for recovering from emotional exhaustion and describes proactive measures as well. I enjoyed this book because it contains real stories of stress from a nurse. Interspersed among the stories were practical suggestions on how to lower stress while remembering why you became a nurse in the first place. There were also creative ways to investigate besides hospital nursing that would keep you in the nursing profession. Great Read! Recommend it highly! Carol
