Review

‘This is undoubtedly the most whimsical hardboiled detective novel ever written, and it's utterly delightful.’ MATT REES author of THE BETHLEHEM MURDERS

‘The Third Pig Detective Agency is a wonderful pastiche of noir-ish detective stories like The Maltese Falcon. The design is an absolute gem, with coffee stains on some pages and a genuinely vintage looking cover.’ www.culch.ie

‘A cross between Chinatown and all the fairy tales you've ever read.’ LIMERICK LEADER

Product Description

The latest mystery for the Third Pig Detective Agency.

Harry Pigg is back…

…and it’s a good job he isn’t scared of spiders.

When Little Miss Muffet turns up at the Third Pig Detective Agency she presents Harry and his team – an ex-genie and a precocious kid called Jack Horner – with a most intriguing case. Her charming little B&B has been infested with giant spiders and she wants to find out who is responsible.

Harry dives headfirst into this web of intrigue (sorry!) and finds himself caught up in rather more than a simple arachnid problem.

The Third Pig Detective Agency series has been acclaimed by readers, crime writers and prize judging panels alike. If you haven’t discovered what makes Harry Pigg so popular then now is the time!

4.0 out of 5 stars Curds & Whey 10 Feb 2013

This is the third Third Pig mystery I have read. I am not sure what sort of audience it is aimed at but it just appealed to my weird sense of humour. This book has everything from magic beanstalks to flying carpets and of course Harry Pigg himself, the great detective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Third outing for the third pig 27 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I first discovered Bob Burke's Harry Pigg when I got my Kindle and the first book of the series was the first e-book I purchased. I found the stry hilarious. Burke mixes traditional fairy tale characters with pulp fiction private eye stories adding a twist of the bizarre similar to that found in Malcom Pryce's Aberystwyth series and Jasper Fforde's Nursery Crime adventures. The Curds and Whey Mystery centers around strange goings on at a bed and breakfast place run by one Miss Muffet. I'll say no more than that other than to say the ending is suitably strange and sets us up for a fourth book in the series - personally I can't wait.
