I bought this book to jazz up my own cupcake recipe. Its great! The recipes are easy to follow, and turn out as described. The creamy coconut recipe is to die for!! I used some of the recipes to bake for a ladies pamper evening at school and they went down a treat, with everyone saying how delicious they were and what a genius I was. I couldnt deny it of course..... If you like baking little cakes, and want something not too taxing, but impressive to eat and look at, then this is for you.

I bought this book partly because of the glowing reviews here and they are not wrong, this book is gorgeous. Neatly sized, so it won't get in the way while you are baking but packed with inspiring recipes that are just as much fun to browse with a cup of tea as they are to bake.
The photography is bold but simple and the cakes themselves are prettily decorated rather than intimidating works of art.
With recipes such as gooey chocolate and hazlenut, coconut and lime, blueberry and lemon and banoffee as well as the usual vanilla and lemon - there is plenty to choose from. The only difficulty is deciding which one to do first.

I bought this book thinking that everything was going to turn out rubbish as usual, how wrong was I! The recipies are easy to follow and everything I have made has my husband begging for more! I have now been nicknamed 'Fanny' by my family, which I have to say aint bad for a first time baker! Thoroughly recommend.

I must confess I was nearly swayed by the customer reviews, but had a quick look at this book in a bookshop first. The thing that impressed me was that the recipes are fairly easy, and the ingredients not too strange, so I was inspired to order my own copy. I'm so glad I did! Not only is it a gorgeous book to look at, but the cakes are reasonably easy to make, and taste fabulous. My first attempt was the coconut cupcakes, and I can honestly say that I've never tasted such a delicious cake in my life. My 7 year old son has rated them his best ever too. The lemon and raspberry cakes are lovely, and the almond orange ones, made with ground almonds and potato flour are exquisite. I've already persuaded a neighbour to order a copy, and can't wait to try another recipe. You won't be disappointed with this lovely book

This is a very neat little book with a good range of cakes that don't dip into the overloaded cakes-for-kids category. I've tried a few of the recipes and they have all turned out well - especially the strawberry cheesecake version which disappeared off the plate in no time!

The reason I'm giving this book four rather than five stars is that I feel there could have been more information on quantities for larger and smaller cupcakes. The recipes in the book tend to be for 12 smallish cakes, but the quantity of cake batter can be a bit variable which can be a bit annoying when you want to serve generous muffin-sized cupcakes. You can't tell before you make up the mixture just how far it's going to stretch. I've seen other books which specify exactly how many a recipe will make ranging from petit fours size to muffin size.

But the flavours I've tried can't be faulted so far.

I bought this book a few weeks ago and I've baked at least ONE batch of cupcakes every week since - there's actually a batch cooling on a wire rack now waiting to be frosted! ;)
The recipes are very easy to follow, very different from your bog standard bun recipe. Every recipe I've tried has been sooooo yummy! And I bet even my husband would probably be able to make them. However, I'm sure he much prefers it when they're just "magically" ready for him when he comes home from work!
Also, I think all of the recipes have a separate icing/frosting recipe to go with it as well. So the mix and match possibilities are endless!
I think the "Special Diets" section is very good too. I've tried a few of the recipes from there and they're just as good as the regular cakes but you don't feel as guilty for eating them! ;)
I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who likes a quick and easy sweet treat every now and then - like me!

I've recently caught the cupcake bug and after reading the great reviews i decided to order myself a copy and was not disappointed! It includes the basics on how to make a simple batch of cupcakes, how to make the icing, frosting, ganache and then includes the inspiring recipes that makes you want to get into the kitchen straight away! It includes those simple cupcake recipes that we'd all want to try, celebration recipes for those who'd like to bake for a wedding or Christmas event and then indulgent cupcake recipes for those who'd like to pamper themselves with creamy banoffe cupcakes or gooey chocolate hazelnut cupcakes - a slice for everyone really!

Just made the maple and pecan cupcakes. So easy and so delicious! Very fancy looking too so everyone was impressed. When making them I thought 160ml of maple syrup was far too much but decided to trust the recipe despite the fact that the cake mix was very sloppy. The results were fabulous - not quite sure how it all worked but it did!
