5.0 out of 5 stars could not put this one down!! 19 Jan 2012

I've just finished this book and I thought it was lovely. The usual girl meets boy romantic book but with the twist of the lady being overweight and the guy being a hunk. It is predictable as you know they're going to end up together but the way it was written conjured up a host of hilarious pictures in my mind, especially with her weight battles and the way in which she chooses or rather attempts to deal with it unsuccessfully. I'd recommend this one to anyone who needs cheering up, and as its not a long one, I can guarantee you probably won't be able to put it down.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant but predictable 5 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was an easy read but I kept waiting for something to happen - a twist in the tale, surely it couldn't be as predictable as it seemed...but it was. Disappointing and a bit boring really but not unpleasant.

2.0 out of 5 stars A fair attempt..... 3 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
They say everyone has a book inside them, and as someone who one day hopes to follow this dream I hope people would give me feedback. So what did I think about Cupcake? Well it was an easy read, the story was predictable and it did make me think a little bit about the characters but that was about it.
It felt like a budding author was practising their "craft" and this was one of their short stories. The chapters felt like they stood alone, each one having a solitary purpose to tell one aspect of the story with little linking them together. By halfway through I wanted to get to the end but only because I had invested time, not because the story was pulling me in.

All in all a simple story with no surprise but unlike a real cupcake, don't expect to feel full at the end.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cute cover, unrealistic storyline 5 May 2012

Larger than life lady gets her hunky man?! Seemed a little unrealistic, with no real twists or turns. Readable but also sadly forgettable.

This was a very sweet, warm read of a fat girl who gets a guy she initially can't believe could be interested in her.

It is told in the first person, and tells of Darcy's humourous attempts at losing weight, her love for food, which sees her taking a baking course and opening Cupcakes, a bakery and wedding-cake shop. We find out about her episode at a posh gym (funny and naked embarassing situation, complete with audience), a type of Weight-Watchers organisation (where she meets a guy who takes her on a date to his sister's restaurant; the latter just happens to be the fore-mentioned audience), we find out about her woes with ill-fitting undies and how that ended in her getting shot, and we find out about her ex who left her and went off to be a third-world priest, who then came back for her just as a hunk came into her life...She reminded me of Dawn French in her larger, happier days, unashamedly.

A real feel-good, heart-warming tale, which just needs a spell-check to make it perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cupcake 29 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I downloaded this a while ago when it was free and really enjoyed it. I found the characters really believable and likable.

I found this quite an easy read, it was hard to put it down as I did want to find out what would happen next. I was really hoping that the main character would get her happily ever after, but I won't spoil it for you by telling you whether she does or not!

This book is very 'chick lit' with romance being the main body of this story, there are some very funny parts to this story as well. Overall this was a good read and I will be looking out for more books by this author!

I had a hard job to put this 'book' down! This was very realistic, extremely funny and yet I think some people would agree with all the things said and done.

I am an overachiever and an over-thinker. I can over-bake, overdo, over-examine, overcomplicate, overcorrect, over-explain, overpay, and oversee. Mostly I overeat. Let’s get that part out of the way first. Deep breath…here we go. I’m fat. I’m not a ‘little on the large side,’ or ‘plus sized.’ I’m not ‘a little chubby,’ nor am I ‘a little hefty.’ I’m fat. I’m just plain fat. There, I said it. Now the hard part is "e;
