'The Culture of Craft',
By Claire Matthews (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Culture of Craft: Status and Future (Studies in Design & Material Culture) (Paperback)
This book is very useful for people who are researching the culture behind crafts and designer-makers. It explains the historical side of crafts well, but mainly focuses on problems faced by modern makers and the social issues of consumerism. Peter Dormer provides a good introduction to the actual meaning of the word 'craft' and its origins. It is a very detailed book and great for writing a craft-related dissertation.

A good read,
This review is from: The Culture of Craft: Status and Future (Studies in Design & Material Culture) (Paperback)
It is what I expected, lots of points of view on what craft is. A good purchase for the reference shelves.
