Just finished this book, and I must say a great read about fixed gear culture.
I've been riding fixed for a few years now and have been fascinated by all the fixed gear websites and blogs. I stumbled across this book in my nearby book shop, bought it (obviously), and now have a new found way of thinking about the simplicity of the fixie.
Covers all the little sub cultures in fixed, the tweed thing (check out chap magazine, amazing), the tricksters and hipsters, bike polo and my favourite the messenger culture that started it all.
Really good pictures in the book, some of the best I've come across in a fixed gear book. The photography has its own style but one that fits with the subject matter so so well. This is coupled with not much in the way of text, but what is written is consistently good and to the point.
Defiantly aimed at more of a coffee table read, read a bit look at the pretty pictures and put it down.
The book can seem a little preachy at times, trying to force the writer's opinion upon us, but it doesn't take away for the quality of the read.
A must have for any cyclist that loves this sport.
