Amazing classic that is still as good today as it ever was.
Nancy (Allison Hayes) comes across a spaceship and a giant alien while out driving but because of her troubled past and her drinking nobody believes her, while her husband Harry (William Hudson) and his mistress Honey (Yvette Vickers) are more concerned with getting rid of her and having her money for themselves, but her interaction with the alien changes everything.
Allison Hayes is amazing and Yvette Vickers is stunningly beautiful.
Forget the rubbish remake and stick to the original ☺

Rampaging Allison Hayes, while on the track of her philandering husband William Hudson and his money grabbing floozy Yvette Vickers, gets touched by an alien and becomes 50 feet tall. Suddenly it's not only the wayfaring couple threatened by the advancing giantess but also the local township, though overhead cables sealed her fate with electrocution but not before hubbie gets his just rewards!

A resounding success with the `50s drive-in crowd, the film has gained genuine cult status over the years, earning itself imitation and spoofing. Another Allied Artists quickie resurrected by Warner Archive though, unlike other releases from this outlet, this has a bonus feature of soundtrack comments by Yvettte Vickers who, at the time of filming, would have hardly realized that the movie would get such attention over half a century later. As for Ms. Hayes being 50 feet tall, the height varies from scene to scene (well, the budget and technical effects were very limited!) and the DVD's cover, a reproduction of the film's original poster, is a real stretch of the imagination. Giant hokum on a small scale: a most welcomed reissue.

A glowing satellite that looks like a beach ball held up by what should have been invisible strings is circling the earth. It lands in the California High Desert. There a 30 foot giant searches for a diamond that just happens to be "The Star of India" hanging from Nancy Archer's (Allison Hayes) neck.

Mean while back at the local bar we find her penniless husband, Harry Archer (William Hudson) in the arms of the local floozy (Yvette Vickers); they are planning the demise of his millionaire wife.

I will not give a blow by blow rendition. Let's just say Harry made a slight miscalculation. Nancy may just have Harry all to herself.

The effects may be cheesy but the effect is shocking.

Wife be sure to have your husband watch this as you stand over him.
