Well I just bought one of these to replace a previous one that I owned for around 17 years. But unfortunately when it arrived it looked very different from the current illustration. Gone is the little blue tag on one edge, which assured you it was the genuine article. Gone is the solid construction and nice smooth edges. Now there are lots of nasty cut outs in the plastic molding where food can accumulate and even the rotating handle at the top is a cheap piece of molding, instead of a solid sturdy piece like on my previous one.

Now I have no idea if this one will last as long as my previous one, but it sure does not fill me with confidence. The previous design was a thing of beauty as well as very practical and resilient. The latest incarnation is a cheap and nasty looking much inferior product.

I don't know what Culinare was thinking with the design changes. I guess they saved a few pennies by cutting corners. Unfortunately by applying these changes this product is now inferior. I totally agree with Fiona Jameson's review. It still works okay, but due to the handle no longer being solid I find extremely hard prising the damn thing open to get the lid out! There's no grip like there use to be. Extremely disappointed. Let's hope in the future all cans have those ring pulls on and we can do away with the can opener.

I bought this can opener 2weeks ago and it has already broken. The turning handle has snapped off. It is a very bad design as the handle is only held on by two small plastic rods. I fail to see how this product would last for more than a few uses.
