Product Description

All six episodes of the early 1980s TV comedy drama revolving around the exploits of a itinerant tramp played by Bernard Cribbins. A spin-off from Shillingbury Tales, the lighthearted stories are set in a nostalgically idyllic England reflecting an altogether simpler, bygone era. Episodes comprise: 'Cuffy and a Carpetbagger', 'Cuffy and a Holiday', 'Cuffy and a Fashion Show', 'Cuffy and a Downpour', 'Cuffy and the Status Quo' and 'Cuffy and a Green Eye'.

For some reason I had not previously seen this TV series so I ordered the full set. I love good comedy and though this series does not have me rocking with laughter as others such as Dad's Army' or 'Last of the Summer Wine' do, it is good clean family entertainment despite being rather 'dated' for my tastes. I have watched the first half of the series and I know I will enjoy the remainder during the dark winter evenings.

After seeing the excellent and amusing series "The Shillingbury Tales" I purchased "Cuffy", hoping for the same good scrips, plots, and scenery. 'Cuffy' has a few exterior shots, but the rest is shot on a set studio set. Some of the same actors reprise their roles, but the plots are standard sitcom fare. If I hadn't seen Tales, perhaps I would't be so let down with Cuffy. They are different types of shows and the standard studio-shot farces like Cuffy I find a bit flat.
