About the Author

Like some other supporters of Crystal Palace F.C. it began as a family heirloom. Both my parents, in their teenage years and before they met, watched Palace in the 1930s. My earliest recollection is of the radio being tuned in at five o'clock on a Saturday to hear 'how the Palace got on'. Sadly, my father suffered with Multiple Sclerosis, so my first visit to Selhurst Park, which was on my own, did not take place until 1966, and I have been a season ticket holder continuously since the summer of 1969. I have many memories of the ups and downs of supporting the club, but two that really stand out are the first promotion to Division One in April 1969 and, of course, the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool in April 1990. In 1977 I first met Revd Nigel Sands, and since then my interest in the historical aspects of the club have grown. In 1986 Nigel asked me if I would like to contribute to the matchday programme, and that has continued to this day, while I am now able to help the club in various ways. I have also been fortunate to have a supportive family and friends, who have also embraced my passion in the club.

Superb update 30 Aug 2011
The last edition of this book was in 1989, after Palace's promotion. The updated volume provides not just 22 years of extra statistics but new research published for the first time. An interesting read not just for Crystal Palace supporters but football historians across the country. Well worth purchasing.
