About the Author
This is the second book from freelance journalist Neil McSteen, who regularly covers Crystal Palace for the Croydon Guardian and South London Press. His first was Crystal Palace On This Day. Neil is from a family that has supported Palace for three generations, and his first game was watching the Eagles beat Sunderland from the Whitehorse Lane terrace in 1986. Professionally, Neil has had the pleasure of reporting on, amongst others, Palace beating West Ham United in the play-off final, beating Brighton & Hove Albion at Withdean Stadium and beating Millwall at the New Den. He considers it an honour and a privilege to write about the team he loves.

Neil McSteen's latest book; Palace Miscellany, Trivia, History, Facts and Stats manages the impossible in that it even surpasses his last tome; the Palace On This Day. It is packed full of info that will satisfy any Palace fan's interest. The casual fan will benefit from its comprehensive detailing of the club's history, from a basic stats level to a more informed fan biased opinion pieces. Newer fans will find the history fascinating: where does the rival with Brighton stem from? Even those wearing Lord Anthony anoraks will find something to satisfy them; whether that's an opinion of the greatest loan signings, a record of Players of the Season, or the history of Palace hattrick scorers. The first reprint will have to factor in Danny Butterfield's quick fire treble. All I can say is; if you're a Palace fan buy it. If you know a Palace fan buy it for them. If you know a Brighton or Millwall fan, buy it for them to show them what they're missing out on.

I received this book as a christmas present, it's made great reading and generated some good debates down the pub or at Selhurst Park between friends!
It's useful as a sourcebook (i.e. 'X' scored more goals than 'Y') and is also full of very funny quotes.
As a relatively young fan approaching 30, it's excellent for the point that it throws up some names, games and incidents from the distant past and gets you wanting to learn more about them.
The only thing that prevents it from being 5 stars is that it becomes out of date very quickly. Here's hoping for an updated volume in a few years!
