Manufacturer's Description

The world has been ravaged by a series of climatic disasters and society is on the verge of total breakdown.  Now the aliens have returned, with a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of mankind, starting by trying to rip the heart out of Earth’s most iconic city.

In New York, terrifying alien invaders stalk the streets and a nightmare plague strikes down the city’s myriad inhabitants with brutal epidemic speed.  The city’s systems are in chaos, its streets and skyline are smashed and in flaming ruin. This is New York City like you’ve never seen it before.

Neither paramilitary law enforcement nor the might of the US military machine can stand against the invaders, and all who choose not to flee are dead men walking.  Just to survive in this maelstrom of death will require technology beyond anything any modern soldier has ever seen.

One man will inherit that means to survive.  One supersoldier, wielding the combat enhancement technology of the future with Nanosuit 2, will make the last stand to save humanity from destruction in the urban jungle that is New York City.

KEY FEATURES

New York New York: Crysis set the visual benchmark for PC games that still stands today.  Crysis 2 will redefine the benchmark on console and PC platforms, shifting their attention to the rich urban jungle of New York City.

Amazing Aliens and AI: Challenging best-in-class AI with unique group coordination and group behaviour systems which give realistic responses to your actions.

Nanosuit 2: Adapt your combat tactics by customising your Nanosuit and weapons in real time with revised modes, unlocking a variety of supersoldier abilities.

Multiplayer: World-renowned multi-player shooter studio Crytek UK is going to reinvent multiplayer with the dynamic intensity of Nanosuit 2.  By using Nanosuit technology the player has nearly unlimited ways to approach the dynamic combat environment.

When Crysis came out in 2007, it was universally acclaimed as the most technologically advanced first-person shooter ever – a status, you could argue, that it holds to this day. But not for much longer, as Crysis 2 is coming – and destined to reach a much larger audience, as it will be on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as Crysis’ platform, the PC. And not only is it jaw-droppingly high-tech, with astonishing graphics and unprecedentedly flexible sandbox-style gameplay, but it also manages to cram in a compelling storyline (no mean feat given that, unlike almost all first-person shooters, it doesn’t force you along a fixed path) and a variety of ground-breaking multiplayer modes. If you seek the absolute state of the first-person shooter art, you’ll find it in Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 plays out in a very different environment from the jungle setting of its predecessor: New York in 2023. It’s not exactly New York as we currently know it, though: it has been evacuated following an alien invasion, which has wreaked widespread havoc, damaging and destroying many buildings, causing water-main rivers to run down famous streets and so on. You take the controls of Alcatraz, a Force Recon Marine equipped with version 2 of the fabled Nanosuit, which has been extensively upgraded since Crysis. Naturally, you’re a key part of the team of marines which is attempting to rid New York of the huge, often mech-like aliens.

Nanosuit 2 still gives you the super-powers of your choice, but has been extensively rejigged – Strength and Speed modes, for example, have been combined into a new Power mode, and Cloak mode, now enhanced with stealth melee kills and extra sensory input, has become Infiltration. There are over 20 Nanosuit 2 modules, which let you shape it to your favoured play-style – be it employing super-strength, speed and agility, stealth or a combination of armour and heavy weapons. New modules include Threat Awareness, which lets you see incoming bullet-trails (handy if you’re being sniped), Proximity Alarm and Weapons Specialist (which speeds up your reloading).

Crysis 2’s multiplayer side is sure to attract a massive online following, especially among those seeking something a bit different. Although a classic Deathmatch-style mode, called Instant Action, is present, along with Team Instant Action. The other familiar mode is Capture The Relay. Crash Site is a King of the Hill-type mode, but with a twist: each session starts with a ship flying to a crash-site, at which all the players converge. And Assault is something completely new: an “asymmetric” mode, in which soldiers without Nanosuits (but with machine-guns) take on a team with Nanosuits, but no weaponry other than pistols. The Nanosuit-equipped players have to hack into terminals (making them vulnerable), and Assault is a one-life mode, so is tailor-made for the truly hardcore.

So, for the cognoscenti of first-person shooters, Crysis 2 is an absolute must-buy. Who could resist that combination of incredible, distinctive graphics, cutting-edge responsiveness and general slickness, a rich storyline married to sandbox gameplay that lets you choose your favoured fighting style, and multiplayer which is varied enough to suit anyone?

Product Description

New York is under alien attack as the tropical jungles of the original game give way to the concrete jungle of the Big Apple.

5.0 out of 5 stars suprised and overwhelmed 26 Mar 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
if you aksed me what was the best shooter two weeks ago , i would of said something like Killzone 3 , which was brilliant.
I played the crysis demo and wasnt exactly impressed due to the connection. However i took the risk and traded in my KZ3 game for crysis 2. I took a risk knowing i would lose out if i didnt like it . But it has indeed become one of the best risks ive taken regarding games in a long time. Crysis blew me away at first sight with its visuals and graphics which are a notch above killzone
and probably the best at the moment. The game looks gorgeous in its great enviornment.

The gameplay seems to be right in the middle of the specturm , between killzone and COD. fast well paced, and brutal. Cod fans will love the pace, and the controls, while KZ fans and Battlefield fans will love the engine.
But the game has to be played to experiance what in fact is one of the best shooter of this genre.

The campaign is something that all FPS developers should really take a look at , becasue it shows how well Single player can be , which sadly no longer seems to be as important as multiplayer. Killzone and homefront have suffered in terms of quality and length. Killzone really needed a better story and campaign.
Crysis 2 has a great campaign which adds freedom, to the way we play it. Which is sadly something we dont see in most shooters,
where its linear.
However the campaign has an intresting stroy which can be improved if it was told a little better, but its a minor fault compared to the vast action and stunning visuals that it offers.

The multiplayer is where the game will rake in the bucks. It has much more depth that usual MPS, customization , to weapons, maps are fantastic , and there 12 , which really adds to the longetivity, the balance system is great , is see no issue with them at all.
armour and stealth have both advatnages and disadvatnages.

Overall the game has to be played and experianced rather than read, its definetly worth checking out if you like FPS. at the very least its a rent , otherwsie its definetly worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Graphics are Amazing....BUT..... 28 Mar 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I never played crysis 1 as it was on the P.C, but i gave this a whirl as the girl behind the counter in gamestation said that this game has amazing graphics...and she was right, but she did not tell me what the gameplay was like.

Crysis 2 is one of the best looking games that is out currently, the setting of New York is awesome. It really captures the citys asthetic and the developers have created a great atmosphere with empty city blocks filled with the infected dead, piled up in the street. Also when your a top of building looking across the ruin city it is really breathtaking. Seriously the graphics are COOL. Also the set pieces such as collapsing buildings and helicopters flying over look realistic. I cant overly tell you how good the graphics are.

Another good point is the length of the game, i paid for this yesterday as i had the day off from work and played it solidly all day and some of sunday morning. Its quite lengthy and there are many levels that are very long. These things i felt were its greatest achievements.

Cons!

I found that the game got quite repetetive, though some of the locations were different, it is simply traveling from the begining of the level to the end whilst killing everything in between.

The suit that you wear at first is cool but you only have 2 powers, which are unclocked on first level. The ability to be shielded and the ability to turn in invisible. I just think it would of been cooler to have a few more suit powers to give more variety to the gameplay. Having just these 2 powers gets a bit boring. You either can go in all guns blazing or just sneek past and be all stealth like, which can be cool but quite repetetive. for the last couple of levels i did not even bother killing enemys i just ran past them or just walk past them whilst invisible.

Also the sound on the game can be hit and miss, when you encounter friendly soldiers or civillians who have things to say, you can't really hear them that well. Also at times when you have people telling you what to do sometimes there hard to hear and in a few incidents they were all talking at the same time. (i think it was a glitch). The guns sound quite flat and not as meaty like in some other shooters such as Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor.

Talking of glitces there were quite a few of them, ive had the enemy stuck on the spot revolving fast in circles and at times the gameplay jumps and it takes a few seconds for the game to right itself. Also i cant decide if the enemy you face is either smart or very stupid.

The online multiplayer is ok, a little but like COD, and im not a fan of COD online, im more of Bad Company2 guy, so it does not appeal.

Overall this game kinda reminds me of a FPS version of Prototype and a low grade version of Half-Life 2. Dont get me wrong i know alot of people think this game rocks and at times i does, if you think it looks cool give it ago you may like it. But for me now ive completed it, i cant see myself returning to it, so im going to trade it tomorrow so i get as much money as i can for it.

Thanks for reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 28 Mar 2011

I switched Crysis 2 on, and it didn't let me go from armchair until I finished.

What I love about Crysis 2 is the most amazing graphic's which ever has been released for console's so far, possibilities of getting into missions objectives in different ways, by using suit abilites and of course multiplayer.

What I don't like is AI of the enemies in campain - sometimes they can see you from far distance (too far for you), other times they have no idea that you are right before them aiming at their poor heads. They also don't use cover's properly.

Crysis 2 is really amazing game, it took my all inner strenght to put joystick away and write that comment. Love it!

(Item came delayed. When i was worried that game has been lost somewhere on the way i have mailed amazon - after fifteen minutes they've send me a message back, with detailed explanation - I did not expect such a good service, considering what I experienced on other services, so thumb's up!)
