Quick reference guide,

This review is from: From Crying Baby to Contented Baby (Paperback)
It's true that this is a collection of tips from all of Gina's previous books BUT even if you have all the others I still think this is worth owning if you have a young baby. It's a really easy to use little book with all the info in a format that means you can easily find what you're looking for. If you're not already a massive fan of Gina's work, or find her routines a little intimidating, then I also think this book could be big help as it's not as "full on" (or as comprehensive) as The New Contented Little Baby Book: The Secret to Calm and Confident Parenting but will undoubtedly help you understand why your baby is crying.
I, for one, really struggled with my first baby. Midwives and the Health Visitor told me to "feed on demand" but I'd really no idea what that meant.. and they don't tell you that babies cry for lots of reasons!!! With Gina's books I was able to clearly see that my poor baby was vastly overtired. Once I worked that out things we so much happier in the Simmons' household! Gina Ford's advice is simple and it works!!!!!!

Great book!,

This review is from: From Crying Baby to Contented Baby (Paperback)
This is indeed yet another useful book from the contented little baby series. It not only deals with causes of crying such as hunger or lack of sleep but gives a guide of roughly how much sleep different aged babies should be getting aswell as feed times. This may be particularly useful to those that aren't following the CLB rountines.
Aswell as the more obvious, this book suggests other reasons for crying which might not always be thought of such as seperation anxiety. It also has numerous case studies of babies and families Gina Ford has helped. I find these particularly useful when trying to tackle a problem with my daughter as you can follow exactly what Gina did and best of all it works!

Great for those with newborns, especially first time parents,

When you have a little one and they are crying their eyes out sometimes you just cannot think what to do and how to work out what the problem is. This is where this book comes in. It is comprehensive enough to give you sound advice and plenty of it but organised in such a way that it is easy to read and find the potential answer to why your baby is crying.
Divided into clearly headed chapters; each one covers one of the main causes for a baby crying. Beginning with hunger which Gina identifies as 'one of the most common causes for babies to be unhappy or unsettled'. She then moves on to cover sleep, stimulation, feeding problems, separation anxiety, before briefly concluding with any other causes (such as teething or illness). Chances are by the time you have got through only a couple of chapters you'll have found a solution and almost certainly by the end of the book!! Even if you are unsure about Gina Ford's methods and consider her routines to be too strict for you and your little one then give this book a chance, this book might be the Gina book for you! It gives suggestions of times for naps and feeds to help you identify if your little one is eating and sleeping enough (actually as a first time parent I would have found that helpful as I had no idea!) I have used many of her books and have found her advice invaluable. I would agree with other reviews in saying that it is a collection of tips from other books however the layout makes points more accessible for you especially if you have a young child and are focusing specifically on a crying problem.
