That's why I've only give this film 3 stars.David Morse has given an excellent portrayal as a mountain man know originally only as "Bicycle Pete" residing in the Appalachian Mountains that pass through the state splitting it and New York State in the mid 1960's and who terrorises the folk living there over a period of 2-3 years where he indiscriminately attacks women in the hope of taking one away with him forever, as his love interest and shooting anyone who gets in his way. He had a long criminal record and had served time in an Asylum for the Criminally Insane, doesn't wash very often, has no real teeth to talk about so all in all doesn't have a lot going for him.. He had seen 17 yr old schoolgirl Peggy Sue Bradnick (played by Megan Follows who was actually 23/24 at the time of filming)previously and decided she was the one he was going to take. He lay in wait for her and when she and her siblings were returning from school he took her, threatening the others with his shotgun. From here the pursuit and manhunt began with various deaths occurring on the way and until the very end. David Soul also stars. What doesn't ring true for me about the story is this:If Bicycle Pete has "never had a woman" as he states in the film to Peggy Sue HOW does he manage to control
himself and NOT attack her, what has he got to lose? I think this is the part she didn't tell!
