He is tired of fighting. She has nowhere to run.

Book 1 of Red Rock Pass series

Keith Winston is tired of fighting. The war between werewolves and wizards rages on in Europe, but he's come home to Red Rock, Montana in hopes of finding a bit of peace. Instead he finds more strife as he struggles against the pack's dictates that he resume his place as the alpha's right-hand man.

When he rescues a new wolf on the run, he knows his instant attraction to her could cause trouble. What he doesn't expect is to find himself embroiled in another battle that goes against all his instincts—and his heart.

Abigail Adler learned about the existence of werewolves only when she became one. With her life threatened by a corrupt alpha, she flees to the only sanctuary she knows: Red Rock. While she's grateful for the pack's protection, she chafes under its unbreakable rules of conduct—except when it comes to submitting to the passion Keith stirs in her.

Then her tormentor kidnaps her sister in an attempt to lure her out of hiding. To save her, Abby and Keith must be willing to do the very thing that could get them all killed—break all of the rules.

Warning: Hot werewolf sex, violence, explosions, and a heroine wielding a makeshift implement of destruction.

Cry Sanctuary 7 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The book was a good read. it explains a great many things a reader is thinking whilst reading and it has a hot and heavy romance/ which is not for young readers.
However, the book lacked the romance suspence. it was jumped into rather too quickly and it left the read both satisfied and bored.
The plot was excellently written, yet this too was jumped into far too quickly.
the whole book needs to slow down, not so much so that i drags, but enough to make the reader sitting on nails waiting for the two main character's chemistry to explode and for the plot to come about suddenly, yet not oo unexpectly.
This book would have been an excellent read if it had been slowed.
Readers how like fast pacing action and short readers, this is a book for you.

Disappointed 1 Jan 2010

Normally I love books on shifters and was eager to start this one. And though the author had some intriguing ideas about werewolf culture, the book had one fatal flaw that I couldn't over look: artificial conflict.

I can't stand it when the conflict in a story only comes as a result of the characters making stupid choices and putting themselves in unnecessary danger. After promising multiple times not to put herself in danger, the heroine does exactly that the very first chance she gets, and willingly gives herself to the bad guys. Plus, I don't think it was explained well enough about why the heroine was changed in the first place or why the bad guys wanted her so much.

And the relationship between the two main characters progressed too quickly and unbelievably for me. I found myself doing a lot of skimming while reading and ultimately gave up before the end.

I gave the book 2 stars for the interesting bits of world building at the beginning. I really, really wanted to like this book (and the hero had an interesting back story). But I just couldn't get invested in the story enough to really feel connected to the characters or worry when they were in danger.

Absolute Must Read 11 Feb 2009

This is a great book gets one of my highest must buy and read right now recommendations.

I am VERY picky about my shape shifter and or vampire books having started by reading Susan Sizemore vampire and Laurel K. Hamilton vampire and shape shifter books, I am quite picky about who's I read, I won't read just anyone and I can honestly tell you that Moira Rogers Red Rock Pass series will be on my *Buy the day of release* list.

Abby turned against her will has come to Red Rock Pass for sanctuary from the alpha who had her attacked. Only having went through one moon change Abby is still a new wolf and very unsure of herself. Meeting Keith and the attraction between them has her even more unsure of thing.

I hate wimpy heroines and believe me Abby does not qualify very much an alpha, so not just any man will do for this wolf, the instant chemistry between Abby and Keith is quite explosive.

I love to watch a good man fall in love - Keith is no exception when he falls he falls hard and their isn't anything he wouldn't do for his woman even defy his own alpha to protect her.

Your going to want to read this book right away just to see what happens between Keith and Abby.

So run don't walk and buy your copy today!!

A pretty solid 1st in the series with a few issues 20 Jun 2010

Keith and Abigail are an interesting leading couple. Both are alpha's (this is not typical for many paranormal/werewolf/vampire type books I've read) and strong. A leading lady that is strong but not hard and sarcastic is a welcome change for me. At first I thought Abby very smart - then she makes a choice I did not feel was in character for her and her strength sort of fizzles.

I felt that the concept of a guide was good - that a new werewolf needed someone to help him/her control the wolf and learn about the community. Surprisingly that part did not seem rushed to me - I was fine with it. I thought the sex scenes were fine - they don't overwhelm the story nor do they seem contrived just for their own sake.

What this book needed is about another 50-100 pages. Its true you hit the ground running but it leaves you with a quizzical bewildered viewpoint that just never really goes away. Too many unanswered questions.

It needed backstory as to why the bad guy would turn Abigail, what he stood to gain from it, and why he so desperately seems to want her back. And her own backstory is flimsy - you just don't really feel her at all.

Although there is some explanation of the politics of the shifter world it needed to be more in depth - as we are told repeatedly that there are bad alpha's and good alpha's and the good are becoming more and more scarce. I was very intruiged with that storyline and wanted a lot more depth and explanation of it - especially as the Main alpha Gavin didn't seem to have a ton of contact with other "old school" alpha's. It seems as if the story is going to devolve into an us vs. them...if so we need to be more connected to the "us" so we want to win against the "them".

The werewolf/witch war also needed a bit of backstory - again another intriguing concept that gets barely a scarce mention and a very brief exposition. It would have been a much stronger book if we would have experienced Keith in combat - as it is we are just told.

And that was my main problem with the novel - we are just told too much. It definitely had the feel of a series set up - the elements are all here they just don't fit into the puzzle as nicely as they could have. It has a very superficial feel. Like you are scratching the surface only and there is much below. It needed more fleshing out.

However it is a quick read (very quick - all told less than an hour for me) and the characters are likable enough. It has great potential to develop into a wonderful series with more depth. I will be picking the other books up to read on my Kindle.
