SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive

Easily take your favourite files with you anywhere with the portable Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive. Use it to transfer files from computer to computer, or bring your favourite pictures and music with you to share with your friends and family. And with the included SanDisk SecureAccess software*, you'll be sure your private files are protected and safe.

Capacities up to 64GB1 to Carry All Your Files

The Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive comes in capacities up to 64GB1 to fit your needs. Whether you want storage for your recent holiday photos, or you need to transfer a movie, there is a Cruzer Blade that is perfect for the job.

Store and Transfer Files on Macs or PCs

Use the Cruzer Blade to store your files, transfer them from one computer to another, or carry them with you wherever you go. Put your recent photos on them to share with your friends and family or use the drive to transfer important work files while on a business trip.

Compact, Stylish Design for Great Portability

SanDisk made it easy and stylish to carry around your files by making the Cruzer Blade drive a tiny 41.50 x 17.60 x 7.40 mm (1.63 by 0.69 by 0.29 inches) (H x W x D). Its contoured design makes it both ergonomic and stylish.

SanDisk SecureAccess for File Protection

The Cruzer Blade protects your files from unauthorised access thanks to the included SanDisk SecureAccess software*. The software provides password protection that uses 128-bit AES encryption. The SanDisk SecureAccess software* requires either a Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 system, or Mac OS X 10.5 and up (software download required for Mac; see manufacturer’s website for additional information).

How Much Can You Store?

Choosing the right capacity very much depends on the type of file you want to store. Full HD3 videos, for instance, take up much more room than a simple snapshot. Music files vary in size depending on the format they're saved in. To help you make the right selection, this matrix uses typical file sizes to illustrate how much each capacity is likely to store.

11 gigabyte (GB) = 1 billion bytes. Some capacity not available for data storage.

2Approximations: results will vary based on file size, resolution, compression, bit rate, content, host device, pre-loaded files and other factors.

3Full HD video (1920x1080x30fps), HD (1280x720x30fps) and 3D video support may vary based upon host device, file size, resolution, compression, bit rate, content and other factors. See manufacturer’s website for additional information.

*Password protection uses 128-bit AES encryption and is supported by Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X v10.5+ (Software download required for Mac; see manufacturer’s website for additional information).

I bought 2 of these after reading a batch of good reviews here. I bought them however to install bootable USB sticks with the Linux Mint 16 operating system on - and boy what a sick joke of a journey that was! After no end of problems with Windows 7 repeatedly failing to recognise the USB stick as "removable storage" and treating it as a "local drive" (like C: drive) instead (same story in Linux Mint 15), I eventually came to understand via lots of digging around in Google and various forums, that the manufacturers DELIBERATELY LIMIT these USB sticks (by changing some internal id bit) so that they will be treated like local drives - even after your reformat them! Bang goes Linux! Of course Microsoft is behind this with its infernal bitch of an O/S Windows 8 which, seemingly, requires the "local drive" USB stick as a default (wonder why?). Therefore USB stick manufacturers have to comply if they want to sell their goods to the Windows 8 market (is there REALLY still such a thing?). In short: buy this product ONLY if you are happy about devious corporate interests taking away your choices - from your product - to meet their own devious ends. And have no intention of installing a bootable Linux on it. Otherwise AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE! Mine are going back! And SCANDISK are now officially off my radar.

(This review is on the stick I received which may be a fake)
The stick is far too tight, requiring excess force to push into the USB port. It failed to fill past the 4GB point. When it did the stick failed making the data inaccessible.
It has all the hallmarks of a fake stick, a low end 4GB chip hacked to read as 64GB. There was no SanDisk software loaded by default, a good sign of a fake stick and the product code has a sticker over it, some early fakes had an incorrect product code.
The device also felt flimsy and cheap, not what I expect from SanDisk.

Steer clear of this one!

I bought few of these and every single one has stopped working within a few months. When they did work they were really slow to transfer data and delete. I would not recommend them at all, at any price. It's changed my opinion of Sandisk to be frank.

This product proves the point that you get what you pay for: it has slowest data transfer rate of any USB memory stick I've bought in recent years.
That aside it has a good capacity and a nice lightweight package at a good price. It's just very s.l..o...w

Its a great buy, dont get me wrong its worth the money for a 16gb small thing like that!
However, my intentions were to improve on the size in gb of a flash drive with the added effect that it would also become fast. Ive run tests and normal transfer rates and the max i could pull off transferring with this flash drive is max around 5 mb a sec! My old memory usb transfered at 29mb a sec, so it was a tad disappointing at my loss. However if you have the spare time to wait that extra time for transferring files, then buy it. You wont regret it however just be aware that the transfer speed is real slow and you could be waiting around 4-7 mins transferring a 1gb file.

After about three weeks, it wouldn't connect properly to any of my 3 computers. If you pulled it out slightly, it would connect again but the connection would fail after a few minutes. Flimsy, garbage - do not buy

The SanDisk Cruzer Blade 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive is an attractive looking memory stick. I've had mine for about 6 months now and it's working fine. Originally bought for £16.99 although price has gradually been dropping. It's something around £12 now.

The drive is very attractive with it's red and black casing. Something pretty unique is how the whole thing is plastic and doesn't have usual metallic casing at the USB part where it slots into the USB port. It has a hole at the back to let you thread a keyring or string to attach to your keys or to something to hang around your neck. I wouldn't put it with your keys using a metal ring though, as too much pressure can break the plastic, as I know someone with one whom did this and lets just say the drive has seen better days, even though it still works.
16GB of space is enough for a lot of documents and even software (even if it's only really 14.9GB because of the way MegaBytes are measured and advertised (1024 per MB rather than 1000 per MB)). It can also fit a fair bit of media such as music and movies. Unfortunately, this is when you start realising the downside of buying such a cheap drive. The transfer speed of copying files to the device is very slow.

Write speed (copying files TO the drive) is around 19.5 Megabits/s (that's 2.44 MegaBytes). Read speed (copying FROM the drive) is around 262.5 Megabits/s (around 32.81 MegaBytes/s). The read speed is pretty good but writing is very slow and would be quite frustrating if you're copying a lot of files or a lot of large files to the drive. I own other flash drives and they fair a lot better in write speeds.
E.g. Kingston DataTraveller 16GB - Write speed 64.67 Megabits/s (8.02 MegaBytes). Read speed 171.66 Megabits (21.

I bought this 16GB at the end of 2010 and was amazed at how small it was when able to hold so much. However I now have had major problems as while Windows recognises that a usb has been inserted it says that no files are stored. Someone told that this is common with SanDisk and that they now avoid them. Will not buy this brand again.
Back to my old trusty PNY 1gb which despite being over 4 years old still performs!
