SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive

Easily take your favourite files with you anywhere with the portable Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive. Use it to transfer files from computer to computer, or bring your favourite pictures and music with you to share with your friends and family. And with the included SanDisk SecureAccess software*, you'll be sure your private files are protected and safe.

Capacities up to 64GB1 to Carry All Your Files

The Cruzer Blade USB Flash Drive comes in capacities up to 64GB1 to fit your needs. Whether you want storage for your recent holiday photos, or you need to transfer a movie, there is a Cruzer Blade that is perfect for the job.

Store and Transfer Files on Macs or PCs

Use the Cruzer Blade to store your files, transfer them from one computer to another, or carry them with you wherever you go. Put your recent photos on them to share with your friends and family or use the drive to transfer important work files while on a business trip.

Compact, Stylish Design for Great Portability

SanDisk made it easy and stylish to carry around your files by making the Cruzer Blade drive a tiny 41.50 x 17.60 x 7.40 mm (1.63 by 0.69 by 0.29 inches) (H x W x D). Its contoured design makes it both ergonomic and stylish.

SanDisk SecureAccess for File Protection

The Cruzer Blade protects your files from unauthorised access thanks to the included SanDisk SecureAccess software*. The software provides password protection that uses 128-bit AES encryption. The SanDisk SecureAccess software* requires either a Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 system, or Mac OS X 10.5 and up (software download required for Mac; see manufacturer’s website for additional information).

How Much Can You Store?

Choosing the right capacity very much depends on the type of file you want to store. Full HD3 videos, for instance, take up much more room than a simple snapshot. Music files vary in size depending on the format they're saved in. To help you make the right selection, this matrix uses typical file sizes to illustrate how much each capacity is likely to store.

11 gigabyte (GB) = 1 billion bytes. Some capacity not available for data storage.

2Approximations: results will vary based on file size, resolution, compression, bit rate, content, host device, pre-loaded files and other factors.

3Full HD video (1920x1080x30fps), HD (1280x720x30fps) and 3D video support may vary based upon host device, file size, resolution, compression, bit rate, content and other factors. See manufacturer’s website for additional information.

*Password protection uses 128-bit AES encryption and is supported by Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X v10.5+ (Software download required for Mac; see manufacturer’s website for additional information).

Due to working with loads of different computers I always use a large capacity USB stick to transfer large files from one computer to the other.
The only gripe is that i always have USB sticks on my keyring as they are too easy to forget otherwise.

Many other USB sticks have perished on my keyring but this one is surprisingly resilient.
So far it has survived being dropped from a balcony, being trodden on and ending up in a puddle (something my Car Key did not survive) and as of yet has showed no signs of giving up.

I am really impressed with how durable this stick is not to mention that it is pretty fast as well.

I really recommend this if you are accident prone or clumsy like myself, it is a great product that is very well made!

Cannot be faulted for the price. Am using it to record TV; instant/ time pause and pre-programmed.
Can get nine hours of video ts / mp4 files on this tiny device, and performance is faultless.

I bought one of these purely so that I could install the netbook edition of Ubuntu onto my Asus Eee, and it worked a treat; after following some handy instructions on the internet I turned it into a boot drive and installed Ubuntu onto the Eee's flash drive and it worked and then I was happy and no-one died. The stick has since come in handy as a quick way of copying data from my laptop to the main computer, and does all the things that ye olde floppy disks did when the world were young.

On the positive side it's capacious, tiny, feels fairly sturdy, weighs nothing, would probably float in water if it was airtight. Creaks a bit when I squeeze it. There's no cover for the USB port, and the thing that looks like a bright LED in Amazon's image is actually a hole for a keychain. As the other reviews point out, there's no status light, so you just have to be careful not to pull it out prematurely, fnar. My advice is to just ram it in there, good and tight, and give it time. Don't force it. Don't get nervous, there's no rush. Take a break if you feel like it. Make sure the data's transferring alright; give the computer a kiss, compliment its fan noise or something.

It's ergonomically designed in such a way that it's easy to put into a solo USB socket, but tricky to get in and out of a socket that has something else above it. But I'm splitting hairs here.

Delivered very fast, basic packageing easy to access, this flash memory is quite small and plastic in construction but seems quite solid, worked first time on windows 7 and is quite fast accessing data, overall very pleased but it would have been better with a keyring included as i would think it would be quite easy to lose.

Excellent 8Gb flash drive, does exactly what it says in the description. It really is very tiny, much smaller than I expected even having seen the picture. It is completely made of plastic which again I wasn't expecting (although I'm not sure what I was!) but seems to be very tough. Great buy.

Although this product was at a great price-point - and I have been using other SanDisk products for many years with great reliability and success - the 'SanDisk Cruzer' was a real let down.

Whilst I would imagine that the 'computing' side of the product would be good, the body and the USB jack/plug, being of all plastic construction, was very flimsy indeed, in fact the USB jack/plug could be pressed together/deformed with just light finger pressure/very little effort!! I attempted to place the flashdrive in the USB port of our netbook and not only did the jack/plug distort it ended up slightly marked also.

Whilst we are only 'home' users of such products, the longevity - in the short term, let alone medium to long term - of this product didnt look good from the start. Most USB flashdrives, of course, come with a 'chromed metal' jacks/plugs which should last many years or normal/home usage. Why SanDisk chose to construct this product with a plastic jack/plug is any one's guess, because whilst they may have reduced production (and retail price) costs they have, so it would seem, reduced reliability and longevity of this product also - a product which has to be robust for even normal/light usage. I realise that plastics can be robust and strong etc. etc. yet this product didnt have the 'feel' of such strength/robustness - even when brand new and straight from the packet...

Price was a consideration when purchasing a 16GB flashdrive yet so is value for money and longevity - all in balance - also it wasnt easily identifiable, when buying via the internet, that this product was of 'all plastic construction'.

I am sorry to have to say that I cannot recommend the 'SanDisk Cruzer', because, in my humble opinion, the product will not endure - or last - even the lightest of usage.

I made the decision - with some regret - to return the product to the supplier for a refund (which was gratefully received in due course).

I wont bother commenting on the device itself - enough has been said. I did some speed tests using this 16gb drive and a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8gb I bought over 3 years ago. I used a Macbook Pro.

First Test: a single 2.73gb video file:
Sandisk 16gb USB: Write 4.65mbps / Read 15.69mbps
Old 8gb USB: Write 7mbps / Read 13.25mbps

First Test Result: 16gb is considerably slower at writing a large file, but a little faster at reading.

Second Test: 47 pictures in a folder, 412mb total:
Sandisk 16gb USB: Write 3.85mbps / Read 13.5mbps
Old 8gb USB: Write 3.84mbps / Read 13.08mbps

Second Test Result: very similar speeds.
