Product Description

The T&G CrushGrind Apollo Pepper mill is a stylish contemporary design that is as beautiful as it is functional. The mill is crafted from high quality 18/8 Stainless steel which is brushed to give a subtle finish.
The mill is fitted with a CrushGrind mechanism which carries a lifetime guarantee and is fully adjustable to give you coarse or fine grinding. The mechanism at the heart of the mill is ceramic so it will not rust or oxidise food and is hard enough to grind pepper, salt and most spices. The mills are easily filled by removing the screw in stopper at the top of the mill.
This mill will fit onto all T&G Mill Rests.

My original November 2010 review:
At last. Someone has made a pepper mill that works actually properly. Don't waste your mone on any other mill.

Update July 2011, 8 months on:
I am having problems with this mill. Mine slowly accumulates pepper dust beneath a plastic ring seal at the base. Then when enough pepper has built up, the ring pops off without warning dumping it all over your food. This has happened 3 times now, which is huge disapointment as I really like the mill when it works as it is meant to. I will go back to the manufacturer to query the problem but it looks like my quest for a decent pepper mill continues...

Further update July 2011:
Company have been excellent so far. Very apologetic, reminded me the mill has a lifetime guarantee (I forgot), have issued a prepaid return label and have promised to sort the problem out. Confidence being restored. Have sent it back and await developments.

Final (hopefully) update July 2011:
Pepper mill has arrived back again after a couple of days with a very nice letter from T&G. New mechanism installed and all seems to be well again.

I purchased this after getting the matching salt mill which i was very impressed with. This is just as good and is worth every penny. The grinding mechanism works well and you can even use these mills to grind over a hot pot/pan without clogging up the mill with moisture.

This is the best pepper mill I've ever had. It looks good, but most importantly the mechanism works really well. I've had mine for several years and it has never failed to do the job.

My husband and I have been searching for a good pepper grinder for 15 years. We have wasted a lot of money on grinders that are simply no good. So much so that we ended up buying the pre-filled plastic pepper mills from supermarkets. I purchased this item, along with the matching salt mill and the stand, based on the reviews here on Amazon. It is as good as they say. We cannot believe the difference. The smell of freshly gound pepper is so different from a good machine. We have been blown away.

We did feel that it would have been beneficial to have a letter S and P on the respective mills as the wording on the top is very small. However, we then noticed that the colour of the tops are slightly different with the pepper mill being decidedly darker. A nice yet subtle design feature.

This is the best pepper grinder I have used . It is easy to fill through the top , good capacity and most importantly lots of pepper comes out.Good for cooking and preparing steaks .
I had asked for a decent grinder for the past 3 birthdays including 1 cole and mason ( hardly any pepper came out), one le creuset ( can only get the pepper out on v course setting) and a rachet mechanism grinder ( useless, took ages to fill through a small hole with pepper corns all over the floor, then broke). I have relegated the le creuset on to a salt grinder ( I find any old machine grinds salt) , but might buy the t and g salt grinder later as a set for the table.

Reviewing this item is incredibly easy. This Pepper Mill is quite simply the single best item I have ever bought for my kitchen. Other mills don't even come close to the quality and efficiency of this product. It is a sheer delight to use. The 'secret' is that it uses a completely different system of 'grinding'. In essence it doesn't grind in the same way as other mills .... it uses ceramic discs to 'crush' the peppercorns into a wonderfully aromatic fine dust the consistency of which can be adjusted on the base of the mill.
It may seem expensive but trust me it's not .... the build quality is exceptional and it has a lifetime guarantee. There is also the added advantage that you can refill the unit really easily (in about 5 seconds) by simply removing the top ... because there is no central 'rod' to get in the way.

If I could give it six stars I would.

Just buy one .... I promise you won't regret it.

The T&G Woodware Apollo pepper mill is an impressive piece of well-shaped stainless steel and looks well on your table. The coarseness of grind can easily be adjusted using a little wheel at the base; this feature alone makes it a rather special mill -- far too many of the mills on the market cannot be adjusted so easily. It doesn't need a battery as it is operated by your two hands; therefore it always works and doesn't let you down at embarrassing moments when you want to impress an important guest.

These grinders look fantastic, they have a great mechanism and far outshine the traditional mechanism with the bar through the middle.
