5.0 out of 5 stars Finally - reality rather than more rhetoric, 30 Oct 2008
By Dancer (London) - See all my reviews
Terrorism is a difficult subject. By its nature it is surrounded in a cloak of secrecy. When we are standing in another security line, are we having our personal time wasted in another `duck and cover' exercise, or is it worthwhile?

Finally someone has stepped forward to address these and many other questions with two feet on the ground, and no ideological axe to grind.

Sheehan has worked at the reality end of counter terrorism from grunt at the sharp end, to diplomat with the UN for most of his life. He's tried things that worked, things that didn't, and has written this book to take us, Joe Q Public, through the veil to see what it's all about, without posturing or grandstanding.

Given that we all have to put up with the increased security aggravation since that fateful day in 2001, it is great to gain understanding of what is worth the price, and what is just pointless security theatre. Every government official on Earth would do well to read it, to make life a little easier, put focus on the winning strategies, and save billions of wasted dollars from cutting the lame ones.
