Book Description

3 Feb 2011 Crusade Trilogy (Book 2)
The Crusader army has been destroyed by the terrible Simoun Dja, the desert wind. Gauthier of Flanders has gone to look for the Jews of Samaria, possible allies to retake Jerusalem. But the Holy Land is rife with plots and counterplots. Christians and Muslims alike are torn by internal conflicts. And behind it all, pulling strings and offering temptations, one creature: the qa'dj - the demon that crept at the foot of the Cross.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dig those flagellants! 24 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Whoa, this is dark stuff! Part 1 established clearly that this is a fantasy drama set around the idea of the Christian crusades - but this episode goes further into this fantasy land with all sorts of wacky events, devils, decapitations, deformed rulers, crazed extreme flagellants, berserk evil monsters, wild armies of religious crazies, and there's even room for a brief bedroom romp as well. All of this is drawn in a spectacular fashion that draws you in to the mayhem - there is heaps of space between the words, indeed some double pages with no text at all. As for the story, well I'll have to read it again to try to actually understand what's going on, but hell, I enjoyed it anyhow.
