The short-lived science fiction show "Crusade" had an interesting premise and an equally interesting collection of characters, all portrayed by a fine cast. An important complement to the show's mood and visual style was Evan H. Chen's musical score. Rather than go for the traditional "space opera" sound, Chen created a quirky, moody, occasionally playful sound.
The selections on the "Crusade" CD include music that is suspenseful, elegant, and intriguingly weird. Odd-sounding vocals are used to spice up certain tracks, and some selections seem to reflect Asian musical influences. If you're a fan of sci-fi scoring but are looking for something daringly different, go on a "Crusade" with Evan Chen.
