A Claire Gulliver Mystery

The fourth adventure in the Claire Gulliver Mystery series is set on a cruise ship heading for Alaska.

Since she was a child, Claire Gulliver had seen the gleaming white cruise ships slipping under the Golden Gate Bridge heading for adventure on the high seas. Finally she was on board.
She and her friend, travel book writer, Lucy Springer, join her mother, Millie Gulliver and her mother’s long time friend, Ruth Clarkson, on board the luxurious ship Dreamy Seas for a cruise to Alaska. They are all looking forward to hanging out with the ‘girls’, being pampered by the ship’s personnel and exploring the picturesque gold rush towns of Alaska.
They feel exceeding lucky to be seated at a dinner table with six other interesting people, including three single men. At first it appears that Lucy’s objective of finding them eligible men for dance partners, as well as add a little romance to the excursion, is going to be easily met, but unfortunately, some of the candidates have other agendas. Nothing is ever what it seems and as usual Claire is in the middle of it all. Only this time her mother is right by her side.
If you’ve been cruising you’ll want to be on board; if you’ve never cruised here is your opportunity to see what it’s like. ALL ABOARD!

Claire develops with each adventure. The villains get more evil, and Claire & Jack triumph. Wonderful escapism. The author has extensive knowledge of the countries she writes about. I have now read all the Claire Gulliver novels available on kindle, and enjoyed all of them. Look forward to Gayle's future novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 28 April 2011
By HannaH - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is the fourth book in the series that I have read. If you want something light, entertaining, but still with a mystery to solve, you will enjoy the Claire Gulliver mystery series. No, it is not PD James or Reginald Hill (and I don't always want that kind of a mystery), but it is still satisfying because you get to know the characters, get to travel to countries and other locations with the characters, and watch the mystery unravel. Even when you know "whodunnit " (the author does not always try to hide this from the reader), it is still very entertaining without a lot of gore. It is a book (like the entire series) that you can set aside and look forward to coming back to the next day. The Kindle editions are very reasonably priced; plus, the books in this series can be loaned!

4.0 out of 5 stars So it's not Shakespeare 7 Mar 2011

I don't understand why some people want to analyze books. This was yet another enjoyable travel escape with Claire and her mother while meeting interesting and sometimes devilish characters. As another reviewer said, there is no authentic whodunit mystery here. This author presents us with travel destinations while weaving enjoyable light mysteries on the way. I liked it.
