Cruel Justice 5 Oct 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
The first book in the DI Lorne Simpkins set of books. It was a page turner, I read it in two nights as I just wanted to keep going. Even though the murders were gruesome, Mel doesn't go into gory detail like some authors do which, in my opinion, made for better reading.
I look forward to reading more of Lorne's cases, but I hope she gets a few days off as even I was getting tired by her hard work and long hours.

I had this on Kindle for a couple of weeks before reading, BIG mistake! I ended up at a racetrack in Spain whilst my hubby was doing 3 days testing on his motorbike and for the first time ever, I sat in the pitbox and didn't see him for 2 days as I was totally engrossed in this book! fantastic from start to finish and a Must for any crime fan. Cant wait to start the others in the series and i wont be waiting 2 weeks I can assure you! Well done to the author for creating such believable characters and getting the balance right between the partners! WONDERFUL ! Hope she is typing as i write this ... i need more !

This is where Final Justice and Impeding Justice began. Bodies are piling up and Lorne thinks she has a serial killer on her hands, someone with a personal vendetta against her.

This takes us right back to the beginning. We begin to understand the reasons between the different relationships in Lorne's life. The characters are fleshed out a bit more in this and as ever it was a complete page turner. I read it very quickly as it was so hard to put down. It was nice to be taken back so we could see the relationships unfolding, somehow it made the other two books make a lot more sense!

I can recommend this as an opener to the series. If you have read the other books, its a must read. if you haven't then it is an excellent place to start in a series of thrillers that are utterly impossible to put down!

Brisk read
Good story with great characterization. The story moved along at a brisk pace, but the only letdown for me was that I felt the ending was a little rushed.
